Changes V Carlton

Critical game again next week against Blues if we're aiming for a top 4 spot. Lose and we're 3 games and percentage behind top 4 with 9 games to go.

Soldo had six contested possessions.
Collingwood's ruck duo of Cameron/Cox annihilated De Koning, one of the chief reasons they won.
We are playing two rucks.
Their lack of a proper ruck is their weak point.
The only concern is the Carlton mids, Walsh and Hewett.
Silvagni will destroy Soldo as the second ruck. Will give them an extra midfielder and when Silvagni drifts forward Soldo will have no idea how to defend.

Did anyone else see Soldo standing near the boundary line while Nank did Rick duties in the forward pocket? What a discrace. Nank shoul have been a kick behind the play and Soldo rucking.

Soldi is either the number 1 Rick or nothing. He ain’t a back up ruck. Not enough mobility. It worked a two or three years ago but rules have chaged that. Can’t afford to have a witches hat in the forward pocket as ball comes out too quickly.

Are any other teams playing with two genuine rucks? Marshall is very mobile and not your standard big ruckman.

Sorry but thats rubbish. I watched him tightly in Round 1 and bar for 1 lead by Mackay Tarrant wore him like a glove.

You are just making *smile* up saying that Miller would be able to manage that.

If they would isolate Tarrant in our 50, why didn't they manage that in Round 1. Again, just making crap up as you clearly don't like Tarrant. We have a game that we can easily assess how he has already done against Mackay (I know it doesn't mean it will happen again for sure), and he did better than what you said so you cannot categorically say what you are without making stuff up.
Yep, can’t believe the hate for Tarrant. I can’t see what he has done wrong.

Some other poster saying drop Tarrant and move Soldo to defence (in place of Tarrant). WTF?

Tarrant was good this week especially 2nd half. His form has been up and down though and I think it is more a confidence thing than anything else. I'm a Miller beliver but the next 2 games we have to go with Tarrant against McKay and Shitkans. If we beat Carlton and Geelong and he does ok he will be fine. If not I'm all for Miller time and a decent run at it

So in Summary:
Keep in mind, with Lynch recovering, We have no-one on the Injury List. That won't last. Hopefully no HS protocols this week.
Lambert in for Edwards who will sub. With 10 games to go Edwards needs 7 to make 300. The MC will give him those 7 games out of Respect, pure and simple.
Ralphsmith stays in. He made 2 howlers in the last quarter but was otherwise good. Dropping him would set his confidence back.

Lynch comes in for Clarke, Soldo or Tarrant
Why would you keep any of them?
Clarke stays in because you don't drop a kid after 1 game.
Soldo stays in, to give an advantage over a ruck-depleted Carlton
Tarrant stays in, which allows Balta, Baker, Gibcus or Rioli to drift forward.
Tough choice at MC.

Definitely out
MRJ - Bolton has his job
Miller - give it a couple of weeks, we have an overflow of defenders

Definitely Definitely out
Castagna - Bolton has his job. Take a number behind MRJ

I watched the Werribee game and thought Miller is starting to look good and believing in himself. The VFL coaches have been singing his praises on his recent improvement. I reckon he would be a better bet that Tarrant against the Blues. Tarrant has skill and experience but he is now too slow to get into position for a contest as age has caught up on him whereas big Ben has a surprising amount of speed and agility so we have to try him for a run to see what he has got. I still want to see him succeed but the question is does the MC?.
100%. Miller has improved with confidence since he had a few games in a row. He will only get better with his physical presence which the coach has highlighted as an area for improvement. I would back Miller in from now and use Tarrant as back up. However, I suspect the idea of recruiting him was to give home a senior game if fit. If this is correct, I hope the attitude changes next year. Balta, Grimes, Miller, Gibcus, Vlaustin and Broad is a quick backline and can play on tall and smalls. It's an A grade backline.

That's an impressive line up. Our forward line looks so much better with Baker and Lambert as the high half fwds

And we beat Carlton and we are back in it for a top 4 spot.

These 2 weeks will tell the story for the RFC.

Win both we will possibly challenge for a top 4 spot.

Lose 1 win 1 we are in the mix but none the wiser.

Lose both we might be only to finish 7th or 8th on the ladder at best.

Tigers must get over the Blues pure and simple

If we lose both games, I reckon our season is officially cactus.

Super important game, win and we are 1 win out of the top 4. Only 2 behind the "mighty" Melbourne.

Dusty with a man flu. We'll all join you Dimma to help. I'm sure there are plenty of ladies (and genets) who would love to apply Vicks for Dusty.

I'm happy with that 22, but I reckon Baker stays back, and Ralphsmith up the ground
