Changes V Carlton

Nank solo is a mistake.

We wilted through the midfield in round 1 against Carlton, particularly when Prestia went off.

I know Carlton is thin in the ruck department at the moment, so giving Soldo a spell makes a modicum of sense, but we’ve won 5 of 6 and have looked structurally sound with the two rucks.

I hope the coaches aren’t second guessing themselves. Dropping Soldo makes us vulnerable in areas that aren’t immediately apparent. Four quarter consistency for one, stretching oppo forward and back is another.

I’m hoping a second ruck returns after the Carlton game.

Wet and windy tomorrow night.

Carts we aren’t going in with one ruck. Balta is the second ruck. But one who provides us the option to play forward and one who will make Silvagni accountable when the ball hits the deck.
Soldo last week was putrid. Couldn’t judge the flight of the ball and gave us nothing when the ball hit the deck.
And the big plus is our flexibility with rotations. We no longer have a guy who can only get on the ground 58% of the time.

We still have the 2nd ruck role in the team. Its essentially in Lynch (with Balta swinging into the 2nd ruck position), out Soldo. Balta will stretch them forward way way more than Soldo ever has, and if Balta can't dominate Silvagni in the ruck, then we will know for sure he will never be a forward / ruck.

Saw final quarter of Pies v Blues.
Walsh is in sensational form at the moment, must be stopped.
Walsh and Cripps are the two key mids.
They should have won the game, the Silvagni snap was close.
Think we just have to accept that Walsh and Cripps will dominate. Blues forward line worries me. Curnow is an absolute gun and McKay works well with him. Blues defence looks vulnerable and we'll need to make the most of that to win the game.
