Shane Edwards

I'd be comfortable with him being a sub til he gets to the 300 - he would go better after the heat of the first half is done I reckon.

Clearly down on confidence this year which is a surprise, the last two years I thought he could easily go on for another 2 years after this one.

Edwards disposal efficiency for last nights game was 50%
just not good enough
Do kicks off the ground count?
Because he broke the Guinness Book of records for the most kicks off the ground.
He refused to pick up the ball.

Looks like I’m not the only one who confuses Pickett with Edwards, at the ground, due to failing eye sight.
Jon Pierik from the Age had Edwards in the bests.
Has he been to Spec Savers?

They don't watch.
He saw Edwards snap the sealer and that was enough for him to put him in the best

Edwards was atrocious. There's something amiss. He was beaten in every one on one contest, some which he was in an advantageous position and was just pushed off the ball so easily. Doesn't want to bend over for the ball in case he gets hit. Hate to say it but he's playing scared. Then too many of his disposals were very poor. Been poor for a while has Edwards so I'm convinced he's being nursed to his 300th. He can't be right the way he's playing.

It's a disgrace he's getting a game - 300 looming or not. I know he kicked a goal late - but I reckon he cost us at least 3. The only way he should get to 300 is as the sub and even that is too generous.

His disposal was not very good on Thursday. But I cant use harsh language to criticise him, he has been a fantastic player for us over the journey.

My wife was out for dinner last night; felt like I needed a lift - so watched the 2017 GF again. He was sensational that day, unbelievable. I remember Terry Wallace saying he could have almost won the Norm, his hands and feet are so quick, ppl dont see what he can do.

For me, I know we want some other young players to maybe get a shot at playing (I've been really keen to see how Cumberland goes in the firsts), but I fully endorse the Club getting Shane to 300 games.

Okay, so l don't have an answer to how we deal with Shane's current form slump.

I'm just a foolish, old, lifelong supporter who probably still believes in treating those that have given us so much joy, with the respect they have earned.
I trust those on the inside to find the right way forward, whatever that way is.

I must say, I really dislike your opening line, but respect it's your opinion. Made me pretty sad actually.

Edwards has always been a slow burn through the season, a slow starter I guess. The trouble is he is now taking longer to do that given his age.

I guess Hardwick and Co are giving him every chance to do that one last time and they believe he will eventually get back his form but I agree it is sad to watch him play at the moment - he is no where near it. The trouble is he is keeping a young player out at the moment but we are winning and playing well - if we were down the bottom of the ladder, we would be playing the kids right now.

If he doesn’t get to 300, it won’t be the end if the world - didn’t Campbell play 297 games - it’s happens.

In terms of who retires at the end of the year, I posted this a while back. I believe with no inside knowledge that all of Lambert Edwards and Cotch may finish up this year.

In 2020 he missed half the year, he did that bullshitt mini preseason alongside Judas and he looked good when he came back.
Why can't Hardwick push him to do a 4 week mini preseason and get his touch back because at the moment we are playing a man down.

If we make finals are we in any position to contend without an in form Shedda?

We need him playing well and that means giving him games to try and get Shedda back into form.

……………

Good question - but here’s another way of asking it

If we make finals are we in any position to contend with an out of form Shedda?

Dunno the answer but I do want him to get to 300 and also I’d love to see him playing close to his best form.
The first of those can be easily achieved - the second is a real concern.

And therein lies the dilemma.

If we can gift games to an out of form past his best before date Edwards to reach his 300 game milestone
We can do the same for triple premiership player George who only has 71 games to reach his 200 game milestone
Time to end the George milestone farce

Campbell finished up his last season on 297 and retired. Didn’t have the opportunity Shane does to get to 300.

IMO he deserves 300. Such a rare milestone and for club culture alone needs to have the opportunity to achieve that.
