Raw basic numbers ignore quality and impact of the possession, also completely ignore any detail of the players work rate and pressure influence or scoring involvement. Pretty sure his disposal efficiency was just over 50% so he had 8 decent possessions for the game n 7 crap ones.
Yes they are not the be all and end all, as I said, but to say they 'completely ignore any detail' or work, pressure, influence etc, is false. Wrong. You even quote disposal efficiency yourself, 50% good and bad, tha, by definition, is not ignoring any detail. If that were the case, why would we have stats? And besides, its not just the stats, to my eye he contributed, didn't star obviously, but contributed, he actually did carve a couple of holes with Shedda handballs friday.

As I said, my issue isn't with the fact that Shedda is nearing the end and not what he used to be, its just with the extreme black and white nature of a lot of posts. Shane is not the star he was, therefore he is a liability and should be thrown on the scrapheap ASAP regardless of credit in the bank, injuries, replacements etc.

ps. DE%: Edwards 54, Graham 53, Cotchy 56, Bakes 52

His handball assist for Sonsie’s goal was vintage Sheds. Unfortunately we have seen it too little this year as his career seems to have wound down a lot quicker than any of us expected. That said I didn’t think he was too bad the other night; far from our worst. But it seems his body can no longer do what his mind wants.

He is a champion of the club and I look forward to celebrating his 300th game this week. Hopefully we can do so with a win and get some much needed confidence back into a team that seems mentally shot.

Yes I'm just another goose with an opinion, so who cares? I just express a view and argue a case. If you can't get someones back up on a tigers footy forum when we're losing, when can you? People get my back up, I get people's back up, so it goes, who cares. It would be a boring old PRE if we all just nodded in agreement and never challenged any views.
My point is only about the difference between I don’t agree and you are wrong snake. Not about difference of opinion.

There is a difference, often I don't agree with someone but can see their POV and they can make an argument, sometimes if IMO they're just plain wrong I'll say so, as anyone can. Its no big deal. Doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong, but I'll only say it if I can make a strong case. How about the clown who reckons Shane is only getting a game because he's black? Its an extreme example, but thats not a valid opinion.

But this week is his 300th, and that should absolutely be celebrated for the wonderful player he has been for this club. I hope it's also a spark for a much needed win.
Let no one start a rumour that Shane has pulled up with “hamstring awareness “ and will likely miss up to four weeks.

300 games.
Some of them brilliant.
Moments of exquisite skill and footy smarts.
The ability to break out against the very best opponents.

We want more of that, one last hurrah.
We've not carried him to 300, we've kept him because he can do what most players can't even imagine.
One last hurrah Shedda

as we’re hell bent on carrying Edwards to 300 can we pick the best side possible to play Brisbane?
Were now 10th on the ladder due to very poor selections by the MC over the last 6 weeks George FAarts Edwards etc so many players played out of position
Edwards can have his 300th game against the Bummers but in the meantime can we select the best team possible so we can try to make 8 and play finals?

Sheds or Shank as I loved calling him. 300 games. Bloody hell. I still remember criticising after that draft calling him "another skinny kid" on here.

Well done Champ.

Has there been a better handballer to wear our jumper? I can't think of one.
Plenty of good handballers in my time....Flea, Maurice Snr, Lambert (Craig), Broderick, Foley but Sheds stands amongst them. Probably, along with Maurice, had the best awareness/skill combo of the lot.

We aren’t that good to play finals…..Really?
IMHO we’re good enough to play finals
We keep playing players that keep dragging us down (George FAarts Edwards) that’s why we keep falling short that’s all on the MC for picking them

Great post Dell. I agree. I also dont think we have carried him to 300.

Just as we have felt today for Kane, I will be super proud, sad, humbled, grateful for the joy provided by Shane.
Another amazing and selfless servant of the Club is Shane. Never arrogant, always super respectful and humble.
Love him!
