You mustnt have been watching too close. It wasn’t “pointless sideways kicks” they executed, it was the way they inched their way up the ground that allowed them to have a) not just more time in possession but b) almost the same amount of inside 50’s as us and c) more shots on goal.

That’s hardly having their game plan under control !

And that’s an indictment on us for allowing a crap team like that to do that to us.
We did the same against the Gold Coast. Basically conceded the ball too at least the centre every time. I said to a mate early in the game it was looking just like the Gold Coast game.
I thought our nadir was that game but this was nearly worse. We’ve lost to 3 severely undermanned teams almost the same way.

The main problem as I see it is this:

Tactically, we try to cheat the contest forward of the ball, where our primary objective is to win contests when we are almost always outnumbered.

To do this effectively, you need speed across the ground and at least one mobile key forward.

We have neither and this is why all the slick ball movement by hand came undone at half forward. Teams who pressure our surge enough will force a dump kick to an oppo outnumber. Happened with monotonous regularity.

We don’t have the cattle for the taxing game plan we roll out.

Scores against are fine, but Cotchin, Martin and Riewoldt are too slow to cram into that MCG F50.

Plain and simple folks.

Worst game from a Richmond player since Ben Lennon v Geelong 2016. Just an absolute *smile* nightmare especially last quarter.

Nank gave him a real run for his money.

This team is elite; at soul destroying defeats. No other team in the league would have lost that game tonight.
Spot on. And don’t forget Taylor Hunt against the pies in around 2016. One of the worst in history.

KMac is back to his old old woeful kicking and decision making ways.

Nank was channeling cymbals Hampson.

The media at large of course thought Nankervis was a great boost for the squad.

I didn’t.

Cooked to a smouldering crisp.

We need a mature tap ruckman to protect Ryan and help with clearances.

Soldo and Nank aren’t helping us.

Were u watching the game tonight, if Nank wasn't playing we would have lost by 40+ points. His second efforts were enormous. Draper would have kicked 4 and dominated the centre bounce.
Nank had a mare. Awful. Cost at least 2 goals with his easy missed marks.

Woeful performance on so many levels .

Huge worry is our inability to win tight games , especially against poor sides and whats going on in the coaches box , as soon as we don’t play quick , we struggle and don’t seem to have a second gear.

Defiantly some concerns with the cubs , doubting a few have the talent we need .

Hard to argue with 3 flags , however so many times we’ve lost close games by not putting the clamps on the oppositions most influential player. Only player that could beat us last night was Merrit and that’s what he did , ffs why don’t we ever play a negative role on a player from the first bounce .

woeful, woeful, woeful

Problem goes back recruiting and mistakes made and a side going thu generational change . We need a tall forward to replace JR . And some pace esp though the midfield ..etc
Cross fingers we have 2 picks in the mid season draft and we get it right .. no skinny flankers .. Might help turn things around

Why do the Tigers continually recruit small bodied, mentally fragile, players that after some time in the AFL system play like first year players???

There is no hardness to this recent crop of players and there is absolutely no mongrel in any of them.

The are pushed about like rag dolls on the field, and are just not AFL bodied players.

There are so many mistakes revealed in our recruiting and development of players that our fading champions cannot carry anymore. The results are there for all to see.

3 Words - Weak as *smile*.

This teams inability to close out close games will be the laughing stock of the general public and media. We supposedly trained for close games during off season. Seen zero evidence of this. FFS if Jack is so sore then dont play him. Did'nt we recruit two tall forwards mid season draft and pre season - why take them if they are not being played. Cud not be worse result than the rubbish being served up ATM. The reason to just long kick into fwd line is plain stupid.... Forward coach must be getting paid under false pretenses - oxygen thief.

I thought Nankervis was the main reason we lost. His ruck work and presence around the ground is useless. Thanks Dimma

Did not sleep well last night after that horrible loss.
To give up a 3 goal lead, miss a easy kick at goal in the last minute or two that would have ensured game over makes my blood boil.
Then to add to our misery did not defend well to stop that last mark right in front that won the game for the Dons.
Twice last night we gave up a goal in the dying few minutes of the quarter, including that fateful last one with about 20 seconds on the clock.
Wonder how many other teams allow this to happen on such a regular basis?

That's it, our success has hampered us, all the depth we had left for greener pastures, leaving our cupboard bare. Just hope we can do the rejig better than the Hawks

Any tall forwards in up coming free agency? We need someone who can lead and take a mark
Didn’t we take Bauer in last mid season draft. No senior games and playing vfl in defence. Great, foresight.
