Obviously the selection panel are working with more, and better info than I've got so it's hard to know if he'd take being given a spell as a well earned rest, or a demotion? As I've said before I think you've got be careful with young and gangly rucks. Don't want them getting busted up by old workhorses happy to slam into them all day. Need to make sure he takes it as a positive part of his over-all management, take the break, watch Nank's 2nd and 3rd efforts from afar and think about how he can emulate that in his own way. Plenty to work with.

Too many similarities to Griffens and Elton.
You can't jump like he does to mark a ball. His hands aren't even in the air.

Agree. He now has a number of straight games under his belt. Going to our seconds, rebuild his confidence and comes back stronger.

I think this should be the pattern, give another tall an opportunity for a couple of game, then bring Ryan back if performing.

I did like Miller's game. He was involved in two to three scoring assist, kicked a goal himself, did ok in the ruck. I think his game last week in the seconds set him up for this game. He took the game on.

If we rest him we should rest him, no VFL game, just a rest. He is slight for a tall forward or ruck, can he get big enough? Maybe, but maybe just the wrong body type.

So, we need to sort out how he can play forward if we want him there. Not so much muscling out defenders as leading to space if he can find it. The issue there is the blocking which barely ever gets called, he does need to learn how to get past, or through, blocking defenders. Plus, he has to be at the very least the second ruck. Has shown he can ruck. Again, will need to learn technique if he can't build to be a brick shithouse. Need to play Ryan to his strengths, oh, and teach him to mark better.

Miller is a funny one. Almost seems better playing as a small at times. Maybe a medium defender who can take talls and smalls plus a bit of chop out in the ruck?

How anyone can say this guy plays soft is beyond me.

He's a beanpole who's spent the last 10 weeks being physically smashed by 100kg+ units in one of the toughest positions on the ground. He's had his colours lowered a couple of times, but by and large he's held his own against bigger, stronger, more experienced opposition. And every now and then he's given them a bath.

It was both predictable and inevitable that the workload would start to take a toll. Playing tired? Yeah, I'll buy that for a dollar.

But soft? No way.

Stronger and stronger Griffiths/Gus energy.

50/50 if he makes the grade. Promising? Absolutely.

But the hype has died down. If he ends up at Rory Lobb levels, I'll be happy.

Why are you being negative ? Ryan has been one of the few positives this year. Still 3 years off his best footy, get behind the young bloke and enjoy the ride.

Gotta say since Nank came back and had the Lion share of the ruck Samo hasn't starred. Plays better as a ruck forward, rather than forward ruck IMO

His tap work is next level. I'm assuming there's a basketball background, because that it how he directs the ball. I've never seen an AFL ruckman with his level of control. That said I only watch Tigers games and I've never played. Make of that what you will. Either way this kid is a ruckman 1st, forward 2nd. But if he can sticking out and add bulk, gradually, he could be the best we've ever seen. I reckon his raw talent is that good.

As a ruck. Don’t think he’s a forward. Overhead marking and intensity for every contest is still my concern.

He doesn't have the strength to separate from his man right now, but I reckon his contested marking will improve as he gets stronger and more confident in his body-work and positioning with time.
