Footy media , love’m or hate’ m ?

The other thing I don’t understand with certain media saying Dusty should go to the suns or swans etc and be their marquee player, with the afl chipping in for marketing. Think about it you *smile*. To be a marquee player you are expected to do a lot of promo and be highly visible in the media. Think about who you are talking about. The one player that thinks less of the media than we do. I can’t see him doing anything more than the bare minimum and that won’t be worth the money for the club

That clip may have shortened McClure’s career. Not one person on that panel ever came close to agreeing with him. In fact I think all 3 of them were wondering what McClure was smoking.

Agree, that was a career killer performance for McClure. As a journo you can be racist, sexist, stupid, Ill-informed and even just plane wrong as long as you’ve got the support of your fellow journalistic sycophants, but once that’s gone, so is your career.

If Sam McClure had 3 year old children..
1. They’d be smarter than him
2. They wouldn’t be dumb enough to argue with the fool
3. They’d smack his arse and put him to bed
4. They’d have to toilet train him
5. They’d have to cut up his food for him
6. They’d have to dress him
7. They’d have to put his socks on the right feet otherwise McClure would be confused where they went
8. They’d tie his shoelaces for him

For whatever reason McClure has gotten in his head he has to make absolute statements. On the real footy podcast he said only Geelong can stop Collingwood from winning the flag.

When his fellow podcasters said that other clubs could do it (even if they agreed that Geelong at full strength had the best tools) and I.e. what If Darcy Moore got injured he just doubled down.

It’s weird and stupid. Why don’t you just say that I think Geelong is the team mOst likely to beat Collingwood and I think any other team would have to have a lot of things go their way. Same point/opinion without coming off like an arrogant *smile*.

McClure is the typical arrogant, immature, white, private school flog that has no self-awareness and thinks his opinion counts for something.

He is a half-wit and his AW colleague Richo should tell him to pull his *smile* head in.

Interesting that on Footy Classified they called out that same players are deliberately throwing their heads into the ground and have an asterix next to their name.... but we don't want to name any names.

Grimes and Rance certainly didn't get those kids gloves when they were getting called for faking.

Surely if the head is sacrosanct and we hate players who fake for free kicks this ticks the box of the thing you absolutely call out.

Where did they get the $1.4 mil from. Dusty’s deal was less than that as I recall
Was it back ended ?
I thought it was more like $1.1 pa for 7 years

Caro's been going to Europe about this time every year for quite a few. She's done some of her best work over there over the years. Bit of the Alan Jones style teflon about Caro in Europe.

I don't think he misspoke. The dumbarse knew what he was trying to say but hadn't done the maths, which is exactly what he should have done. Went in there winging it without any data and ended up looking the fool.

If he'd have gone in there with averaging it out to $650k-$700k per year, so something like $2m or $2.1m over the 3 years, he gains like $700k over those last 2 years when he starts each year at 33 and 34. It my be slightly on the low side but gives Dustin some security.

Generally there was some logic behind what McClure was trying to say, but at least do some prep work, he looked like a complete nuffy because he didn't do any work around what the numbers would look like. Whether another club does this, or the Tiges could do it I don't think it makes a difference, why he needed to include he "can't be at Richmond" was another reason why he looked a peanut.

Coming in with statements like that and then making figures up on the run, thats what made him look like a peanut.

Yeah, good summary.

I think it's exacerbated because Dustin does so little media that essentially no-one outside his inner circle knows him at all. He's sort of a white whale for the media to try and analyse but they have nothing at all to go on.

For example the narrative tends to be he might lose interest in footy and walk away. I don't pretend to be close to him but I've never known anyone who loves playing footy more. Not the rest of it, but actually going out for a game of footy.

I would see him as a guy that will play AFL as long as he possibly can, I still think he will play 400 games and after that I wouldn't be surprised if he kept playing locally Boomer Harvey style. The only reason I could see he wouldn't is if he can't get privacy and clears out but that will drop off incredibly quickly once he retires.

Watching the Yokayi show many times, I have to say that Krak is a great speaker and host. Give him a spot at Fox Footy!!

For a skinny player who was quiet and shy just 20 years ago at the Tiges, he's really blossomed into a great speaker.

Loved him as a footballer. As you say he's even better as a host. He's got perspective and empathy.

Watching 360 on delay.

Jordan Lewis calling out 'at least 4 players' exaggerating head contact with the ground to draw a free kick. And showed a video of someone collingwood no-name. *WELL DONE* They need to do this on a star too.

But at least it's getting some attention. Same thing happening with the sling.

I'm actually disgusted by the rules the AFL have set up. They created the incentive for this to happen and put no negative consequences to it. So stupid.
