Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

You just knew once we were ahead in the free kick count that they would do everything in their power to even it up and screw us over.

Sam Mitchell had the right idea tonight. The game is too obsessed by replays & camera angles pandering to broadcasters.
It's such a flawed sport in the way it's umpired so why spend so long on over-analysisng certain parts only to let howlers go elsewhere without any scrutiny?
Slow motion from 15 camera angles is not how the umpires see the game so why show it at home?
Want to simplify the game? Less replays/less tech equals less controversy & a quicker game.

It’s gobsmacking in its doublespeak

Summary

Consistency is the most important thing (referring to multiple dissent being let go vs fre vs Carl dissent)
We have a lot of umpires now (so it’s hard to be consistent!)
We treat each integrity investigation on a stand alone basis (being asked about consistency with how Alistair Clarkson was treated for homophobic slurs)

At least she didn’t giggle after each question and answered directly.

Dame Laura Kane is saying nothing. How very AFL. She's purrfect in the kitty litter tray.

I agree but I guess what would happen is the AFL would get castigated by one and all for trying to cover up umpires mistakes and any contentious issues.

Just a point of order.
We’ve played 5 games.
Geelong, Western Bulldogs and Brisbane have played 4 games.
So our usual position is resumed. We drop to 18.
Yeah that’s why we are listed as 16th. We have the highest numerical differential

Not sure what has happened with Collingwood. They wouldn’t be happy with a break even ….

Frustrated goal umpires met AFL football operations boss Josh Mahoney on Tuesday to discuss score reviews, with the league agreeing to inform fans that umpires are merely following a directive to call for reviews any time the ball travels close to goal posts or there is any doubt about it crossing the goal line.
Goal umpires through the first four rounds were becoming frustrated at the growing perception that they had lost their confidence to make decisions they would have previously made.

So it’s another stupid directive by AFL
it’s not enough to review goals within the 30 seconds before centre bounce AFL want to stop game for minutes every time ball goes near posts or maybe touched by player
Farc then try to make a decision from SD blurry images What a bunch of amateurs running the AFL

They’ve all got to be seen putting their imprimatur on something, somewhere, for some reason. Even if there isn’t..
*smile* wits, dimwits, and halfwits department for new dumb *smile* ideas

It’s the overreaction to the goal umpire screw up that cost the crows finals last year.

Wouldn’t be because the broadcaster (7) can fit in more ads would it?

Just wondering why there was so much media on the touched ball by freo and the afl coming out saying the umpires made a mistake. Whereas the touched ball by Short v Port Adelaide has hardly been mentioned let alone the afl coming out with a statement relating to same. No comparisons to similar incidents from years gone bye - same season. AFL’s main goal is consistency……yeah sure it is.
