Give me a break, they had no idea what to do after they got past the border posts as they never thought they would get that far. There is no military in the Middle East who are a threat to the existence of Israel, none. Iran might do some sabre rattling and get their proxies to do some damage but it won't threaten the State of Israel. After all, Israel has the bomb so Iran is under a real existential threat if it goes too far.
But, along with de-humanising Palestinians, it does make for good propaganda to excuse the levelling of Gaza, the killing of thousands (after all they are sub-human according to Israeli ministers), more killing in the West Bank and total avoidance of any long term solution which would actually give Palestinians any rights.
The Israelis would love for the Palestinians to leave (and go where, Palestine is their home?) it is exactly what they are trying to achieve in levelling Gaza.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Israeli forces and Lebanon's Hezbollah have engaged in increasingly heavy exchanges of cross-border fire since early October, in the biggest escalation on the frontier since the Iran-backed group and Israel fought a war in 2006.
Hezbollah, one of the most heavily-armed, non-state groups in the world, is the most formidable of Iran's allies in its "Axis of Resistance", which includes Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, Iraqi militias and others.
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has said the group has 100,000 fighters.
Here is an overview of some of Hezbollah's most significant weapons, based on Hezbollah statements, security sources, weapons experts and academic reports.
THE OVERALL ARSENAL AND HOW IT HAS GROWN
Hezbollah's military strength is underpinned by a vast arsenal of rockets. Experts believe the Shi'ite Islamist group may possess more than 100,000 rockets today. Hezbollah says it has rockets that can hit all areas of Israel.Many of the rockets are unguided, but it also has precision missiles, drones and anti-tank, anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles.
Hezbollah's main supporter and weapons supplier is Iran. Experts say the Islamic Republic sends arms to the group by land via Iraq and Syria, both Middle East countries where Iran has close ties and influence. Many of the group's weapons are Iranian, Russian or Chinese models.
LAND-ATTACK ROCKETS AND MISSILES
Unguided rockets comprised the bulk of Hezbollah's missile arsenal in the last war with Israel in 2006, when the group fired about 4,000 of them into Israel - mostly Russian-made Katyusha-style missiles with a range of up to 30 km (19 miles).Hezbollah has Iranian models, such as Raad (Arabic for Thunder), Fajr (Dawn) and Zilzal (Earthquake) rockets, which have a more powerful payload and longer range than Katyushas.
Nasrallah has said the biggest change in the group's arsenal since 2006 is the expansion of its precision guidance systems. Last year, he said Hezbollah had the ability within Lebanon to retrofit thousands of rockets with guidance systems to make them precision missiles.
This puts more Israeli territory in Hezbollah's range, and experts say it could enable the group to strike more specific targets such as critical infrastructure and military sites.
Hinting at the damage it could now do, Nasrallah in 2016 made a veiled threat that Hezbollah could hit ammonia storage tanks in the northern Israeli port city of Haifa, saying the result would be "like a nuclear bomb".
ANTI-TANK MISSILES
Hezbollah used guided anti-tank missiles extensively in the 2006 war. It has deployed guided rockets again in the latest round of fighting, hitting Israeli positions at the border.Israel has said during that the latest flare-up that it has responded to anti-tank missiles.
Hezbollah has posted videos of what it says are direct hits on Israeli tanks and other military vehicles since Oct. 7. Videos also show guided strikes on military installations on the Israeli side of the country's northern border with Lebanon.
ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILES
Hezbollah said on Oct. 29 it had shot down an Israeli drone over south Lebanon with a surface-to-air missile, the first time it has announced such an incident.There was no comment from Israel about that claim, but a day earlier the Israeli military said it had thwarted a surface-to-air missile fired towards an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and that the military had responded by striking where the missile was fired from. It did not give a location.

ANTI-SHIP MISSILES

DRONES

Israel accused Iran in September of building an airstrip in south Lebanon that could be used to launch attacks. A non-Israeli source with knowledge of the site said it could accommodate large, potentially weaponised drones, based on an Iranian design.

They and their chief proxy Hezbollah have enough in their arsenals not to need “the bomb”.
They have enough to overwhelm the Iron Dome and the Patriot systems.
I highly doubt Israel has 100,000 Tarneit interceptors or enough for the Patriot system. At about 90% effective, That let’s about 10,000 missiles through.
That’s just from Hezbollah. Then add in the armed drones. Then the long range artillery.

It is crucial to recognise that this government does not represent the majority of Israelis, as many opinion polls demonstrate.
As a member of the Knesset, Israel’s legislature, it is very important for me to meet and spend time with the citizens whom I represent. The Israel I meet is completely different from Netanyahu’s government. Since the beginning of the war, I’ve met Arab-Jewish civil society organisations that exemplify this spirit, providing assistance across diverse communities.
This is the real Israel.
The noisy minority advocating for the destruction of Gaza is simply that – a minority. Netanyahu’s partners in the extreme rightwing government want a perpetual war and to see Israel conquer the Gaza Strip and settle there. But the broader Israeli populace desires something different. They seek the opportunity to rebuild their communities destroyed by Hamas attacks, yearning for the return of their 133 loved ones who were abducted.
Moreover, they don’t want to witness further bloodshed in Gaza; instead they want to see the elimination of the murderous terrorism that declared war on Israel and slaughtered us mercilessly on that terrible day. They want to see their sons return from the battlefield. They want a quiet home in which to raise happy children. Over the past few weeks, there has been a surge in protests demanding the return of the hostages and the replacement of the government. Thousands of Israeli citizens have taken to the streets, advocating for immediate elections, a deal for the hostages, and a more accountable leadership.
We must not allow Netanyahu – who is accused of criminal activity including fraud, bribery and breach of trust (he denies the allegations), who made dangerous alliances with extremists to form his government, and has even attempted to turn Israel into a de facto dictatorship through his government’s controversial attempt to pass “judicial reform” – to dictate our relations and divide us. We need to make a clear distinction between this extremist government and the people. When US vice-president Kamala Harris was asked if Israel is at risk of losing American support in the war, she replied that it is important to distinguish between the Israeli government and its citizens, and she is absolutely right. The Israeli people are entitled to security – as are the Palestinians. Israeli citizens are the ones thwarting Netanyahu’s authoritarianism, we are the ones holding him back in this moment.
There is no doubt the ruthless leaders of Hamas are willing to starve the residents of Gaza to death for the sake of the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people. However, it is undeniable that this war, though initiated in response to a tragic massacre, has dragged on without clear political or diplomatic progress. The Israeli government’s persistence in sending soldiers into this conflict, despite the absence of diplomatic objectives, appears driven by a desire to stave off political instability and impending elections – and the risk of electoral defeat. With Netanyahu’s bloc facing historically low approval ratings, they anticipate that the upcoming elections will mark the end of his era in Israeli politics. Those advocating for perpetual conflict seem to prioritise power over life.
In the end, the extremists can’t be the ones designing the future of the Middle East. On both sides there are good people who yearn for a different reality – one defined by prosperity and security, not strife.
My family migrated to Israel from Morocco, following the dream of living in a nation that values life above all else. Throughout 2,000 years of exile, we dreamed of this country, which was established after the Holocaust, the most terrible genocide in history. We dreamed of a country in which life is more precious than land. Under Netanyahu and his cronies, this beautiful country is changing its very character. When I tuck my young children into bed at night, I think about the country I am fighting for, for them, about the country they deserve – one of peace, security and prosperity. And with strong American support, I know that we will succeed. Netanyahu will fall and the extremists will fall.
To the citizens of the US and the entire world, especially those of Jewish descent, I have one request: do not abandon us. Stand with us as we strive for a better tomorrow, for Israelis and Palestinians alike. A liberal-democratic government is not a distant dream but the will of the majority. Together, we can forge a path towards peace and security, fulfilling the aspirations of all who call this region home.

While the sentiment of the Labour member of the Knesset may reflect a lot of peoples' opinions in Israel, the fact is that the Netanyahu coalition, RWNJs and all, command a majority in the knesset so someone is voting for them. It isn't like Netanyahu has won just 1 election. They don't want a mad right government with no interest in a settlement of the Israel/Palestine issue they need to stop electing governments like this one. Trouble is the religious right has gained a lot of power in Israel over the last couple of decades. I reckon Netanyahu would lose an election held now, and even before October 7 because of the corruption. But it remains a question as to who would then win the election - the religious right get a lot of votes, would they take the votes of Likud or would they go somewhere else?
