bolton and balta will need to be paid near the top of our pay scale.

chol and CCJ trade value has risen over the past 2 weeks. Interesting times as namkervis soldo chol CCJ all have different skill sets Before soldo injury he had just about become our number 1 ruck.

We need kids. We need midfielders and one key forward. CCJ has maybe lessened the urgency but we still need one.

The other reason we need kids is it lessens salary cap pressure for a few years, kids come cheap.

Is Cujo not a key forward?

He is, still think we need one more on the list.

They take a couple of years to come on. Think one of Chol or CCJ will be gone next year.
Obviously gunna need to replace Jaaack sooner rather then later. That'll leave us with the Lynchman as key forward and he's gunna need one of either Cujo or Cholly full time forward as support n we then need another one ready to go as insurance as is evidenced by Lynchman himself being out for a while right now.
We've also currently got a glaring hole in the playing group right now with Soldo a year out with a knee reco and Nank out for possibly four to eight with a PCL issue. In a matter of a couple of weeks we've gone from an over supply of ruck / key forwards to thank *smile* we've got some ready replacements to keep our season intact.
Might be heresy to even contemplate it. But this afternoon I was thinking more along the lines us needing to tap Jaaack on the shoulder at seasons end ( a fourth flag might make it easier ) and creating room to have both Cholly n Cujo as the next five to ten years of key forwards, along with Lynch.

If we do go down the releasing path for either Cujo or Cholly, then I'm praying both keep up some bloody good form for the rest of the season so we can get best value for whoever ends up leaving. Fully developed decent, young key forward / ruck type player should be worth at least an early first rounder simply because they're firstly so hard to find n second saves four years of development work waiting for them to grow into their bodies.

What's our age spread like amongst the squad. Any obvious holes?

Edit: Found it.

Not too bad though a couple more mid-20s wouldn't go astray
Spread is fairly good. Three to five probable age related departures over the next 18 months while there's nine youngsters that will be coming into the start of their peak years during that same time frame. Biggest issue with just going by age spread is the quality of the players within the various age categories, no good losing premium old silk n replacing it with cheap n nasty young nylon.
Reckon there's enough in our senior core to keep us in and around the hunt for another few years which is why I think it's vital we use a strong draft hand now to dig deep this year n find another group of youngsters to be stepping into the breach in three or four years time to help keep us deep in the future finals n flag hunt when the current group of 28 / 29 year olds are coming to the end of the road.

our age profile is really good, half our squad 23 and under - 22 players with some emerging stars amongst them including Balta, Bolton, Baker and Graham already proven stars and real promise from players like RCD, CCJ, Mansell and Hugo this year alone. The unknown is Stack at this stage - we know he can play but will he make it.

To keep them going, experience from Short, Rioli and Chol (all 24) and Soldo (25) with Nank and Aarts (both 26). That gives us good spread over the next 4 to 6 years to rebuild around and a coupe of years to bring in some KPP talent which is the hardest to find and develop and our pressing need over the next couple of years.

Looking at this I am not sure why we are into Cerra - better investing in another Balta or CCJ.
