2024 Draft Thread

Individually each player we selected appears to have high upside, however, 4 of the picks collectively present higher injury based on what feedback we’ve gleamed. 12 months from now we’ll either be lambasting our recruitment team or raving about how we’ve smashed it.

All we can do now is sit back with fingers crossed and hope like hell these kids are well and showing good signs
At the club thing, Giesh Jrn commented on what super high -quality individuals all of the players taken were.

Gotta count for something... right???

Ok, so Essendon have 37 tonight. Can we swap 28 for a future 1 and 37?

Then Geelong have 42. Maybe swap 37 for 42 and a future 2nd?

Maybe WC will give us a future 2nd and 44 for 42?

Then the Kangas have 52. Maybe swap them 44 and get our future 2nd back? Or at least a future 3rd.

Then we can swap with Freo. Pick 52 for 60 and a future third.

Probably still get a good player at 60.

Maybe we should start earlier, like target the Bulldogs pick 29?

RFC could just troll the competition all night long just for the lols.

I reckon we start a bit earlier.

28 to West Coast for 30 and a F2
30 to Saints for 35 and a F2
35 to Essendon for 37 and a F3?
37 and F2 or F3 (Saints or Essendon) to Geelong for 42 and F1

Maybe not to this extent but I'm sure Blair is looking to do this.

To the very few unhappy and I've got to he talking just about single,
Lalor has pace while smillie isn't slow, his testing pace was considerably better than cripps.

Can someone explain why Port gave away pick 46 to WC to move up from 16 to 15 ? Surely WC would have ensured they didn't nab their target Allan, and if Port agreed, why do the trade?

It was one of the great mysteries of the night. Port have done some odd things this off-season. In what universe does taking on the last year of Rory Atkins’ bloated contract make the Houston deal more palatable? GC played them. So did WC last night.

We bent North over, but even with their F1 we had to give back our F2, we don't have anymore F2's, so I can't see West Coast or Adelaides F1's being on the table. Adelaide don't have anything else to trade but their F2, could be a possibility, but that would be it, and I don't see that working.

If its West Coast, they might really like someone (Shanahan, Whitlock or Moraes you'd think), they could offer 30 and their F2. I'd do that trade if it was the best left over and then continue to slide back, but would prefer dealing with Saints or Essendon. Once we slide back a few, reckon we get additional offers perhaps from Sydney or Gellong.

I'd happily grab another 2 or 3 picks for next year and slide back to 40-45. I'd then be targeting Boxshall, Hayes or Unwin.
If west coast are interested that means they must have a very specific player they want because they have pick 30. Trading with them and getting something back would be a great start to the night.
Pick 30 would also be in demand of course
I reckon your later post might be a tad optimistic but it is tactically really good.
What we need to remember is clubs will be after points again next year so holding a couple of F2s may well get us an F1 this time next year.

Cripps ran a 13 beep, I think Smillie's yo-yo was comparatively under but I'll wait for confirmation on that.

lol at the bombers for trading out pick 9 and then Kako gets a bid later than that.

Why didn't any club bid on Ashcroft earlier? Pick 5 is a steal.

How did Cal know when the bids would come?

Smillie is like an antelope or an unbroken colt. It’s a like a gallop around the footy field.
He is definitely not slow

I'd heard some rumours that West Coast like Moraes, but the Dogs have been linked to him, so might try and get in front of them as the Dogs have 29

He's average, not slow but not quick, I don't think it matters much, I think if he ramps up his contested game he'll make the grade.

Definitely upset. That's what I like about him more than his brother. Just seems to have a bit more hunger and mongrel in addition to being a better mark.
Did Norf accidentally pick the wrong Whitlock?

"Welcome to the North Melbourne Football Club Jack!"
"uh it's Matt..."
"WTF!"

That of course opens up trading with the Dogs as well because they might do it just to ensure the Eagles don’t
