Coronavirus

Yep, you could drive a truck through those rules, and, as surprising as it may seem, many are.

Compare that to the incredibly complex and difficult to interpret rules in Victoria where the lockdown is relaxed:
  • No visitors to your home for two weeks
Why do they insist on overly complicated rules in NSW, it is a recipe for people finding holes in the rules.

DS
The rules in Victoria aren’t quite so simple

Vaccination really is the only answer for society to have a chance to normalize. Shou!d send those who choose not to get vaccinated to Christmas Island.

Great.

It’s impossible to not have another outbreak and a lockdown IMO. Expecting something else is optimistic at best.

Our vaccination advice across the country needs to reflect covid in the community given the lag from vaccination to full protection and get AZ pumping into our arms instead of exporting it overseas.

Will be the main upside of NSW issues - they are targeting 1 jab all adults by end august and now have health advice to support it. I guess governments won’t move contrary to the health advice in Australia.

I think our expert health advice in this area has been *smile* and reactive vs proactive and will cause more loss of life than it saves in addition to the widespread business and QOL destruction. . Eg deaths in NSW already will be > than if we had some AZ deaths. We outsmart ourselves with static assumptions / boundary conditions.

4 more weeks of Gladys mockdown. Taxpayer's money for welfare payments flowing like a river into NSW all because of her inadequacies.
The Prime Minister of NSW has increased payments to business substantially this morning.
How many billions will our great grand kids be repaying all so a few of her mates don't get their bottom line affected by a harsher lockdown?

177 new cases, with at least 46 in the community, in NSW.

Not going down, barely plateauing.

Not good.

8 in Vic is good, although they are now reporting one which has no known connection at this stage.

There is no doubt that those at greatest risk are the previously uninfected and unvaccinated. Previous infection was good protection against Alpha but not as good against delta as compared to someone who was fully vaccinated. Interestingly previous infection and one dose of Pfizer or Moderna gave you as much protection as being fully vaccinated. There is however some spin in the above charts. If we look at total hospitalisations after fully vaccinated in the US they stand at about 5000 and deaths at around 1000. Also they are being cute on mild and asymptomatic breakthrough infections because the CDC stopped recording them in about May ( the cynical may say because they are inconvenient to the narrative although they imply they are high in the notes to graph 1). Accordingly that second graph appears to be rubbish if it refers to the US.

And all the while that this disastrous premier carries on like this, the rest of the country is at risk.

New community case not yet linked (although in I'm sure it'll be linked as the day progresses). Person worked as traffic controller at Moonee Valley testing clinic. Worked there for 2 days while infectious. Sigh.

Gladys still claiming she’s doing better than Victoria. She says her list of authorised workers is less than Victoria’s so she’s clearly doing a better job…

Worrying, but those guys are usually full PPE so hopefully nothing comes out of it

And she reckons if she hadn't done what she has done there would be thousands and thousands more cases:rolleyes:

Gladys, how about if you locked down earlier, and didn't initially allow lingerie shops and the like to remain open there would be hundreds and hundreds less cases.

They'll be in a lockdown until Christmas at the very least at this rate.

She's still providing mixed messaging with certain communities having harsher lockdowns. The rhetoric is the problem, that this isn't a Sydney problem, but a SW Sydney problem as she has pushed for a good 2 weeks now. Thats now become a SW and Western Sydney problem and will soon expand further and further through Sydney.

Really poor management, clearly politically driven rather than virus driven which will just prolong this lockdown further but when questioned on harsher lockdowns, she just repeats the same thing "if we hadn't done this, then we would have had many more cases, many more deaths, Delta is different". Which is all true, however the questions aren't, what if we didn't have a lockdown, but what if the lockdown went harder earlier and she won't answer that question as it makes Golden Glady look like the tool that she is.

Hasn't she over the last year said not to compare VIC's situations with overseas because they have been able to contain them so compare to NSW. So when NSW get an outbreak, she doesn't follow her own advice and just compares NSW to overseas rather than VIC (who by the way, are the only jurisdiction in the world who have successfully suppressed to a control level, the Delta variant, and have now done it twice - are we then world leaders in this now?)
