33 Test hundreds is not to be sneezed at, but a surprise all the same.

According to Wiki, first English cricketer knighted since Alec Bedser in the 90's (excluding Botham who received one for his charity work). Bradman's a bit lonely out here. Didn't know Bill Woodfull turned down a knighthood.
There was a push to knight Border, but obviously never happened. There’s currently talk about trying to give Warnie one.

I’ve been to a couple since the BBL started , I’ve found it an entertaining couple of hours, very much aimed at the kids, one every couple of years is enough as I can’t link myself to any team.

Has Maxwell been mentioned at all to come in for Sydney ?

Yep. mentioned on both channels but also dismissed as a chance

Can't see that happening, Warne is too anti establishment, and a massive flog to boot, but a handy cricketer.

7s new Nightwatchman segment is pretty good. Here they have Gideoin Haigh and Peter Lalor talking about Australia's batting and it is utterly damning:

A couple of points. If Australia's batters can't construct an innings what are the coaches doing? And Maxwell was told not to play county cricket because he'd be busy this summer, the implication clearly he was in line to get a test spot. So the administrators have completely screwed Maxwell.

Another point, I'm stunned to learn Mitch Marsh is still Vice Captain despite not being picked and almost certain to be dropped for Sydney.

Yeah thanks for the share. I agree with all of your comments. Maxwell has been treated very poorly.

I hadn't heard that, gee Maxwell's been treated poorly at times. I think Burns has too, to a lesser extent, he was rushed over to South Africa after sandpaper gate, top scored in the 2nd innings and then along with Harris was the best opener in shield games leading up to this Indian test series.

Better first class batting average than all the top 6, bar Khawaja.
Burns averages just under 37 in test cricket.

After all the years of following a team that had great success in the summer and then another team through the winter that was shithouse, I don’t mind the role reversal now, bring on the chill of winter I say.

Aussie Cricket is very Cliquey always has been.

Burns and Maxwell are obviously not in it.

Stuey Macgill wasnt either but he had to be picked because he was a damn fine bowler and filled the void adequately for the great SK Warne when he was unavailable.

The younger Marsh was selected as vice captain before the UAE tests and the other vice captain in Hazlewood didn’t even play in those.

i assume that is based on his average of nearly 60 this season. bowling that is. his batting average is less than 30.

Someone on twitter said 20 odd average with 9 bats at shield level

28.22 : http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/batting/highest_career_batting_average.html?id=12452;type=tournament

Doesn't even make the cut on the bowling but it's 5 for 298 at 59.6: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/bowling/best_career_bowling_average.html?id=12452;type=tournament

Another boring BBL game last night. I’m not sure low scores and a lack of boundaries was what T20 cricket was meant to bring to the table.
