Cricket

I've seen enough of Carey, he's a good cricketer, but Inglis is better. Get him into the test side.
It's not been easy for batting over there but still, 36, 10, 0, 7, 3 & 0 at an average of 9.3 might have him a bit nervous but I have no doubt he,ll be in the first test v England.

I don’t mind Carey, I just like the way Inglis goes about it, and have done for a while.

My old man played grade cricket in Sydney against Ray Lindwell and then in Melbourne against Miller.

Said Lindwall was quick and moved the ball beautifully, but Miller was something else.

Quicker, could move it and generated crazy bounce. Had that lunatic element about him where you're never quite sure where the ball is going because neither is he. Reckoned it was genuinely scary to face.
The story goes that one day as NSW skipper Miller walked out to field with his teammates, they looked to him for directions, and he simply said, "Scatter." Then took 7 for 12.

Charismatic AF, gave us the line, "Pressure is a Messerschmidt up your arse, cricket is not". Photo in the dictionary under "dashing, see 'debonair'".

I like the story about the time someone asked what England was like in summer and he said ‘I don’t know. I went to the pictures and by the time I came out it was over.’

Sir Len Hutton, who I reckon would be a fair judge of a bowler, reckoned Miller was the best bowler he ever faced.

I get the pitch is not going to suit him, but Starc bowled poorly last night and looks to be way off today as well.

Just get some line and length happening.
You mean like the bloke that's been made to sit in the dressing room last 2 tests with pitches he would have just loved, by the name of Scott Boland!?

While Starc bowls 3 down leg, one wide outside off and two on the stumps in his normal over? With the new rock only moving for about 2/3 overs. Got ONE over with the 2nd new ball today. It's just a joke. What is the point of his selection? Just to threaten the tail - supposedly?

Boland would make them play at nearly every ball; far greater chance of nicks behind or LBWs, especially on the shocking moon-pitch surface in the previous test - like a terrible MCG pitch on steroids - shooting through low or kicking wildly.

But Scottie is from Victoria, so .... no go. While Starc is a protected species.

The worst is his starts. The ball swings for about 2 overs yet he cannot get it in the right area. Both tests in his first over he has bowled leg side.

It is a challenge on these pitches without swing or seam though. You have about a ft square area of the pitch to land the ball where you don't present a scoring opportunity to the batsman. Hopefully we get some reverse today.

Boland would have done what he did in the first test - keep it tight without ever looking like getting a wicket.

I did tell you guys to expect a road. This pitch is dead. Thought the Aussies used Starc and Green too much yesterday and underbowled the two rookie spinners.

Consistent accuracy has always been Starcs downfall.

Indians produce 3 minefields masquerading as test pitches. The 3rd one backfired so incredibly “sub continent conditions” become a road a week later.
What a joke this has been
Makes a mockery of test cricket.

The problem is there are too many international venues in India.

In Australia you could ask the curator to prepare a raging greentop to play India on and they will tell you to get stuffed because the ground management don't want the game over inside 3 days. Not like you can walk away from playing at the MCG or the SCG or most other venues so you have to cop it.

India has over 20 international venues so you don't want to be the place where the team loses or isn't happy with conditions or you won't see another test for 10 years.

Who was talking about Matthew Hayden’s spoonerisms? He was talking about what a great 2016 Kohli had and rattling off how many tons he scored and the amount of runs he scored. “ It was his penultimate tournament”.

Boring game of cricket. So little variation from any of the bowlers. Good to see Virat back in the runs, I love him. Bloody hilarious how salty the aussies got when he gave them a bit of sledging on the field on that Test doco.

It's a draw. Indians did it on purpose with this batting pitch to avoid any possible win for us.
