Nope Dimmas fault.

Its all Dimmas fault.
So, logically, when we win it's same!!??
No the team lost, same for a win, but coach and individuals contributed. We were well beaten in too many positions, including most of midfield.
In the old days, someone would have "discouraged" Jacobs from paying such close attention to Cotchin. But you need your best players for the next final from an EF with all the video scrutiny today.
If moved elsewhere, nothing to say C would have won us the game. No, very unlikely, but Waite definitely kicked a bag on Batchelor.
That is what I'm mad at Dimma for.

Ah, Tobes.

Yes, it was Dimma's fault.

You see, a coach's role is to ensure that his players are able to maximise their output.

If one of your stars is getting sat on and there is no Jacko, Tuck or King to provide support muscle, you must perform a task commonly known as making a move.

Such phenomena has been known to occur throughout the AFL.

Just not at Richmond unfortunately.

You would think so. But logic can be in short supply around here.

When we win its because we have a top 4 list.

Lose and it's because we have a bad coach.

Sorry Carts dont mean to keep going after you but your an opinionated poster so you air your views...

It was a collective disapointment, the coach is important but more important are the players, the leadership group in virtually every team have the ability to change the structures based on their various game plans, to blame one person whether that be cotch, edwards or dimma is daft...

Is Dimma the answer i dont know, more importantly i dont proclaim to know and dont seek anyones head, just look for the answers and improvement...

Real problem is to have other midfield options who can step up when Cotch is down as opp focuses so hard on him as our key, besides Dusty. I'm so hoping Townsend or Moore will assist in this aspect.
Geelong had same problem with lack of support for Selwood last year

Thing is you see other coaches issue instructions to at least ease that situation, whether the tagger gets a bit of his own treatment, a brief move forward, a sudden two on one, the Ruckmen doing some blocking etc. We seem to wait too long for any of that to be noticeable.

It's a team effort, including all in the coaches box.

I'd like to think that somebody might have raised the matter with the head coach that we need to look at a plan B if Cotch keeps getting smashed.

Got a sneaking suspicion there might have been some discussion, and that really is the point perhaps. No way it avoided any discussion.........

There was discussion 2-3 years ago, which is why we tried to get Tyson, Fyfe, Mundy, Armitage, Treloar...

I'm not sure we were ever really close to getting any of those guys as much as the club claims.

We defintley were never a chance with Armitage.

I have never seen the club claim that we were close.

Every year its floated we are “close” to a big fish. Definitely floated in the media and from club people that Armitage was close, same with Hannebery.

It never got past polite conversation and it’s touted as much more.

We must have thought we were close with Treloar? Stuff trying to lure a big fish. Hopefully time will tell that our fist pick 2015 and 2016 was overs for him anyway. Our list is coming along nicely and if we can get a couple of finals wins under the belt they'll be jumping on our hooks at a much lower price point. Our greatest improvement will come from across our young list as a whole.

No it wasn't

For example Dan Richardson actually said we made inquiries about Armitage and it didn't go any further. He also said he spoke to Hannebery because of an association with his father and he wanted to stay at Sydney.

They are not statements about being close at all. All that stuff was in the media and on fan sites.

You are correct on those Sin.

Treloar was the one was pushed all-in with confidence and got trumped.

@AFL @Richmond_FC After 3 successive failed finals campaigns & 7 years as coach, if we don't win a final in 2016, is it time for you to go?

:hihi

Well that's putting him in the 'hot seat'!

But TT, you have someone out there in mind that you think can do better, if this was to happen?
Tell us who please?

Leon, if we lose another EF I expect Dimma to be gone before he's had a chance to address the players.

agree 100%. We are leaving no stone unturned. That might mean merely asking the question of a manager, or a lengthy process. The media will beat up anything though. We put a lot into AT and missed, I believe (strong rumour only) we just made Fyfe a huge offer, not that much energy went into it, and then there was the Armitage case where we just went 'any chance?"' to his manager.

We can't win really. We do nothing we are sitting on our hands, we do a heap but don't get our man we are second-rate. Its your classic hiding to nothing, because poaching a big name is always very tough.

Dangerfield falling into Geelong's lap is the biggest coup of all time, and people reckon there is no luck in footy.
