hardly blame the coaching where we where at 2 goals 14 at one stage, 14 goals 2 and he is a super coach. Loosing Rutten, Leppa nd Carasella has had some impact but when you cant kick the ball 25m directly in front, its 100% the players fault not the coaches

If you deconstruct and translate Dimmas press conference last night,

he pretty much said

'we are completely rooted and footy is *smile*'

I think Dees will deservedly win the flag. They've put together a great list, they've adapted to the changes whilst maintaining a traditional finals brand, and they've sustained a season.

hope so.

get *smile* Shocking
SHocking and COVID. Not sure whats worse.

Coaching terrible at the moment
Clearance and stoppage work is a disgrace as present
As has been the case for most of the year . Got smashed yesterday ! Irrelevant of what the scoreboard says , we had little control of the game . The inability to score is a huge concern as well . Can’t keep ball inside F50 as well . The ability to “ shrink “ the ground has been seen once in 8 weeks ( against Brisbane )
The rest has been rubbish ! Cant blame the players , or the property manager. Dimma is coaching poor .
Most games, we're only getting a first decent look at the ball from half back, such has been the centre clearance rate against us. Even our cobbled together defence has done pretty well considering the avalanche of ball they've been facing. Compounded by 6-6-6 rule.

Negative stoppage differential around the ground is killing us too - means we're always chasing and never initiating. Huge fail on the part of the coaching team and players. Hardwick's biggest deficiency is lack of attention to clearance/stoppage.

Excellent post . Glad to see you watch the game and not the scoreboard. To see players repeatedly getting lead to the ball by a second rate midfield yesterday was embarrassing. Huge issue with Dimma’s coaching .

Just had a thought. Probably silly but.....
Did Dimma put the cue in the rack before the bye?

He knew we were fatigued, has lost his assistants, injury ravaged, short preseason, playing poorly and never likely to progress beyond a single final this year.
Well, he has the side playing a dreadful style, unlikely to win a game, he keeps selecting players unlikely to kick a winning score, he keeps playing some out of position and not playing some where they would be useful, he had Nank and Lambo on the bench last few minutes v Dockets...two players who could win us the game, we have beaten no one for a very long time bar Lions who were depleted and it was Jacks 300th..in this game suddenly we looked good and Jack kicked 6 with ease.
We are not looking interested, have no game plan, no run, can't stick tackles, can't kick for peanuts and are playing so poorly it beggars belief that we were premiers not so long ago.

Could Dimma have decided early to let this season go and give the team a lazy few months, then time off and start next year with a healthy and refreshed side?
Just wondering.....
It's not in his DNA. Hates losing.

Our forward half turn over game is dead. Its a dying trend actually. And with this we are no longer creating the loose player forward of centre.

Todays football is only about kick and marking. Chaos football died when SHocking was made King of Football.

So true Aces

got summer to refresh both players and game plan. Pre 2017 we would have burnt Punt Road down to get Clarko to Richmond. 3 flags - 4 prelims and finals in 2013, 2014, 2015 (exit 1st week of finals), 2017 (W), 2018 (top of ladder PF loss). 2019 (W) 2020 (W) that is not a bad run considering the number of teams that would tick a box just making finals. For me its a season that had everything go against us, rules, injuries, our full army in the stands.

I had thought about this too.
Not so much before the bye, but certainly before yesterday.
If we really wanted to win, it was hard to imagine why Caddy and Pickett were not in the team, given some who were (selection said Pickett was "managed").
And despite the scoreline, I thought we were going OK from about half way through the second quarter, and once we finally got in front in the last quarter - by ten points no less - it was like we thought "ok, we've proven we can win this, now let's play for draft picks".

He/we need a refresh .
Hope he isn’t too stubborn during the off season.
Contrsted & clearance work should be a huge focus.
Goal kicking.
Game plan entering I50.

But not his fault when players miss sofas, execution of basic skills is poor and the umpires just crucify us at crucial stages .

Injury management needs a look at but it’s hard to guard against ankle syndesmosis injuries this year.

I see a tired coach with few answers atm.
I agree T o O.
The thing with Beavis is he is very stubborn.
He keeps picking same side and expecting different result.
What do they call that again?

Picks Miller, Hugo, MartYn, RCD etc, etc on extended benches then doesn't pick them in 23.
Great coach, yes, just change it up a bit is all we are saying.
Drop Captain Chaos and Aartsy for example and try some of these other guys.
As it is we are losing anyway so let's see if these seedlings can spring some shoots.

Losing Rob Innes has been a big loss, the Swans only had 2 players unavailable against the Bombers. Rehab and Conditioning needs to be a big focus.

Massive loss.

This guy along with Leppa and Fly their departure is being felt.

The players are done theyve been cooked for a while, aside for mustering up the effort for Jackmonds 300th.
