Joel Smith will step away from Melbourne's football program as the AFL and Sport Integrity Australia investigate his positive test.

The versatile tall has been provisionally suspended from the Demons' football program while Sport Integrity Australia, with the support of the AFL, investigates the circumstances of his positive test.

A sample provided by Smith after the Demons' win over Hawthorn in round 23 returned a positive result for cocaine.

How the media doesn’t get into this club for its endless issues - one after the other - and the culture it’s running with, is typical of their selective bias.

Clearly, running a weeks worth of articles on something like Pickett’s bump on somebody is more important.

Seems a few down there are either drinking their own bathwater or into the nose sherbies............................. or both

Yep, the Simon Goodwin gambling, the Glen Bartlett fiasco, Oliver’s behaviour, recruiting a $1m ruck only to play him as a forward then abandon him after 1 season and now Joel Smith. They’re lucky they don’t wear the yellow and black.

Dont forget Picketts hit on Bailey Smith and his sniping on field and campaigner behaviour, and the punch on last year May and Melksham, and Lever just being Lever.

Yeah the more you mention it, what a bunch of figjams that play for that club. Add in drunk driver Lachie Hunter that they recruited.

Yep. Watch the AholeFL gift them a pick for Joel Smith.

So, ah, when does Bartlett get his apology?

Seriously though, very little clubs can do to keep players off the gear outside of business hours. However, clubs can control who they put in charge of their players during business hours and maybe should think twice about appointing a known fiend as senior coach. Just an idea.

You’d be ropeable as a parent if your young fella fell to the scourge because of the culture and acceptance at the club he was at. A lawsuit/Workcover issue would be warranted. Having said that, we all make our own choices.

The most surprising part of this is that people find it surprising that AFL footballers do illicit drugs.
