Goodbye Mabior Chol

As bad as he was, the midfield has been pantsed for the last 3 games and a quarter. He’s not Simon Madden, he needs a hand and our mids haven’t fired a shot.

And I get that feeling but Chol is being asked to do way more than most players. Being an undersized and not match-hardened 3rd-string ruck going up 4 quarters against a Grundy is like going rounds with a heavyweight. We know his endurance is not the best, that isn't that surprising for a big bloke. So he is going to tire toward the end games. Add in the battering his body is taking and again it's no surprise that a Grundy who has been resting in the pocket for the previous 5 minutes should out-mark him.
All of that said if we weren't down 2 rucks I doubt he'd be getting a game. His endurance is a problem. His work off the ball is a problem. But unlike say, Vickery, I think he is giving his best it just isn't quite good enough. I don't think labels like "lazy" or "pathetic" are fair.
Fair enough if he tries and fails. But this reaching into the contest with one arm a la Ben Griffiths won't do. Give away the free kick if you have to, smash the opponent's arms, double-fist him to the head. But no token efforts.

Mabs tires in the second half against elite ruckmen. Not ruck fit. He’s a 3rd stringer ffs. We have far bigger issues.
Not blaming Chol for the loss, he was given a no-win assignment. Was disappointed that Grundy was able at times to completely blunt his leap, to the point where Chol hit the ground again without ever being in the contest. Wanted to see him use his athleticism to better effect, because he doesn't have the braun.

So a few weeks ago in the pissing rain we debut a 2nd ruck, yet today in perfect conditions we go in with just Mabs.

Love how people make excuses for this guy. If he is only capable of being a third stringer after this much on the list he should just be traded or delisted.

Impossible task tonight against 2 rucks
should stay in the side when Nank returns as relief ruck and another tall forward So at least were partly competitive for rest of the year
Hopefully another club sees something in him and asks for trade

He's a free agent this year.

100% correct, why oh why? Basically we just said here Scumwood you have the ball. Wouldn’t you hate to be a defender.

Chol is a 2nd ruck, 3rd forward at best - but more probably a good VFL player. Some of his (lack of) efforts tonight were nothing short of embarrassing. Nank would have cringed at his lack of intensity and commitment.

Nailed it.

Hardwick says before the game that we simply need to improve in clearances.

We had no chance around the footy with this insipid, disinterested, lazy footballer in the ruck.

Well at least he know what it takes to be a full time ruck. Think I might have overrated him a tad. Part time ruck part time something else. Maybe not at AFL level. On face value a pretty ordinary performance.

Its ok to lose but to watch him walk and put in half hearted efforts isnt good enough.
I've seen better player's delisted.
I just don't believe he has the hunger to play AFL

So why retain Any player with stuf all intensity or commitment?
