Jack Ross

Time to throw him in the middle and see if he can fire.

No more wing spare parts its inside for Jack now or outside the 22
If the last game of 2021 told us anything it was that Ross plays his best footy as a mid. Why we persist with him on the wing is beyond me.

If you want an inside mid,

Who panic kicks to the opposition when under no pressure,

It could work
He’s no winger and if he’s not an inside mid it’s VFL time for him
Time to give the next kid a go

We’re gonna need better players to replace the stars of the past than Ross. He’s decidedly average. Slow, mediocre kick, doesn’t win enough of his own ball, and then, when he does have the ball in his hand it’s short kicks or backwards handballs that don’t hurt the opposition.

We’ve got an average group of mids from a couple of drafts that aren’t going to have much impact I fear.

Spot on my Dear Drofder

Inside player. Play him there FFS. Not on a wing.
Where’s the evidence that he’s an inside ball winner ? When he has that opportunity at stoppages on the wing or hbf, he’s next to useless.

Nearly 3/4 of his career possessions are uncontested.

If there aint a spot for him in there then he's taking up a spot better utilised by someone else.

I don't think he is the answer, but its already looking a bit ominuous.

2022 may well make the list management decisions at years end a lot easier, and I'm not talking about our elite champions nearing the end.

Unfortunately the free agency pool at season's end is slim pickings... The only hope should we fail to compete again this year is the draft (again), a near full rebuild may be on the cards

There was a fair bit riding on tonight. Cotch had very little impact. Maybe lets try it again?
I wouldn’t have an issue with it. I fondly remember his first few games. He was very good. I’d love him to recapture that form.

What's really interesting is that nearly all of Jack Ross' best AFL performances to date have been in Cotch's absence.
Just don’t think he’s the answer to our clearance issues. Prefer Noah as a mid if we’re going to try other options.

They asked him to develop his outside game??
I agree with those who say pokay him as a full mid - we are short of guys his age and experience in the middle. He has to go there for 10 games, at least this year..
If that Matt Kennedy can improve that much Rossy only needs to improve 10-15%
