Well he directly gave away 2 goals.
Pretty rough there. Umpire gave away one, as he clearly didn't go over 15 metres.
And the other, Prestia can take a bit of blame for, though it did highlight that Shorty's weakness is over head work. Perhaps the long distance floating pass to him which he had to sit under while an opposition player charged at him wasn't the best option. Was it a mark? Looked close.
He's a strange whipping boy, Shorty. He does have a couple of weaknesses (strength in the contest /Overhead strength) but he won a couple of important one on ones and is quick, skillfull, links up well, deadly on both feet, a great decision maker, and a very good runner.
I couldn't believe he was called "the worst runner at the club" on this thread. Pure garbage. Covered the most distance of any of our players bar Lambert last night.
That's almost the opposite of worst.
I actually see him as a Houli upgrade. He's a less familiar and practiced with his weaknesses than Houli (who has become quite good overhead, though still shaky one on one), but unlike Houli he's actually very good at his strengths. Short is a better kick, a longer kick, hits more targets, fumbles less, and hits the scoreboard more.
I'm not meaning to denigrate Houli. He is experienced, and stood up on the biggest stage in the biggest way.
But Short is arguably an upgrade. Which says a bit.
