Jack Martin has declared he wants $1m for season 2020 but just $3m over the period of the 5 year contract he’s seeking.

so $1m for his first season then $2m over the next 4 ($500k a season)

Jack Martian's entire career hasn't been worth $1m. Let the fools pay it.

All going to plan shall be at The G for Tigers/LoL Blueboys March opener 2020 season. Was at 2017 , 2019 games & The Tigers turned up. This year we sat in front of a venue which was hosting an ex Blueboy luv in. They were not luvving it when the final siren went. Did notice on the way out all Blueboys & Wags had their hankies out. Waleed Aly with wag Susan Carland was there . Why I do not know as he is supposed to be a Tiger supporter.

The Age claims: "A source indicated the total terms are in excess of $3 million for the five years." Just hilarious. Looks like GCS and even the Dees won't have a bar of him at this price.
Who or what has led JM to believe he justifies this price? What has he shown to deserve this kind of $$?
It's going to be such fun watching the Blooz handle this one. SOS's final gift, his legacy?
Or, will they try to crawl away from his highly inflated valuation. Going to be a laugh. AFL better be ensuring no dodgy dealing going on here.

All the articles on social media from fox footy,. SEN, AFL it was hilarious how blues fans couldn't take criticism from many saying jack martin isn't worth 600K (1 mill in his 1st year) and the doozy hearing many say SOS gets martin for free, yeah free from a draft pick but his price tag will prevent them from grabbing a bona fide A grader next year ...

I told a few Butler is better and you could've got him for 300-400K max! Ellis, they scoffed at 600K but are happy to pay 600K+ on an underachiever in Jack Martin.

It’s highly enjoyable to see them backed into a corner on this.

Blues home game and they host the president's function with lots of opposition freeloaders, so maybe that's the answer?

If you read the post I was replying to, Tigaman was referring to this year's first match which I believe was Carlton's home game if I recall correctly:)
what you mean read & understand before posting a reply ?

pffttt It'll never catch on :)

If Jack Martin is worth $3million to the Blues, then imagine what Ellis would have been worth!

176 games virtually injury free and two premierships vs 97 games of mediocrity with a bung shoulder and the odd flash of potential.

Maybe Carlton are just obsessed with copying all things Richmond?

Any player named Jack is now a target!!

His best footy has been as a lead-up forward a la "Shotgun" Williams, but even his best season averaged barely a goal a game.

Has been far too lazy to be effective for significant periods in the midfield. Watched him last year v Collingwood when given the easy role as half back sweeper. He simply didn't put in and was promptly dropped again. It should also be mentioned that his teammates didn't go out of their way to look for him.

He has ability and if Carlton can switch it on then good luck to them, but I'd be aghast at Richmond paying that sort of money to a player with Martin's record midway through his career.

I imagine Carlton are thinking they're really smart engineering Jack Martins recruitment.

They can spin it whatever they want, but the bloke is gonna be seen as a million dollar player next season and in this new age era of mental wellbeing they are placing enormous pressure on him to perform!

On a side note, was told by a blues mate who's in their top end coterie, that Cain Liddle is ruffling plenty more feathers other than the super recruiter!
This could turn out to be Benny Gale's finest job recommendation ever;)

i would imagine Liddle is trying to copy what Benny did at Tigerland.

Problem is, we were ready. After 30 plus years of abject mediocrity we were ready to listen to anyone who could be bothered making a plan. I'm not sure that he could have come in and do what he did ten years earlier, there would have been plenty of delusional coterie members, board members and past players who would have arked up and stood in the way.

Plus, Benny actually believed in what he was doing and drove it. Liddle is probably just trying to implement what he knows has worked at Richmond. Can you imagine what long-time Carlton people are going to think of this guy who comes in and says, " Richmond did this, Richmond did that," all day long?

They are not ready. They need at least ten more years of mediocrity.
