Canberra is not a bad call for Norf. boring and full of hot or cold air
Canberra will be where GWS play all their games in about 5 years from now, so it's taken.

The best chance #lolNorf have of landing Lynch is if they merge with GCS. With their desperation to land a big fish it’s not out of the question.

You generally chase a big fish when youre contending.
Makes zero sense for #lolnorf to go after a gun.
Put your heads down hit the draft and develop.
They are the north korea of the AFL. A delusional basket case.

#lolnorf are desperate for a marquee player and growing their own is all just too hard for Scott.

Norf don't need a big fish to help push them up the ladder. they need the big fish from a marketing POV. But they have no chance of landing Lynch. He would get much more money at the gold coast. If he was to return to Melbourne it'll be with the enticement of success.

They are desperate to have something to sell to their member. The numbers they got live at game's last year would be scary for them. Another couple of bad seasons and they will be back at the fold or relocate stage.

But instead they will choose to stay and let the AFL keep them a float just for a change.

We all know there are too many Melbourne based teams in the comp. It used to get my goat in the worse than Fitzroy era, that other supporters said that it should be us to be relocated. However, we had better attendance and membership figures than most Melbourne clubs regardless of ladder position.

Nth on the other hand, even when successful have one of the worst attendance and membership numbers. If the only way you can survive is AFL handouts over such along period of time, then the AFL should do whats best for the comp and move them where they see fit.

Where North is now is no different to what others have been through, including RFC on too many occasions. The difference is that if they are sitting on the bottom their games will attract very low crowds and will start to become a very big problem for the AFL and for NMFC. Despite our lack of success we were never any serious financial problem for the AFL ,North is and it will get worse.

I can't see how they can be competitive this year

Tasmania Kangaroos imo. Have their 2nds play out of the north of Tassie in the state competition and solve 2 problems at once

Selective memory ST.

In 2004 we were in so much debt we were warned by the auditors that, if not for the AFL guarantee, we would have been trading while insolvent and therefore bankrupt.

(a) Economic Dependency[/b]

The Richmond Football Club Limited is economically dependent on the ongoing financial assistance of the Australian Football League ("AFL"). This ongoing assistance provided by the AFL is in the form of a Redirection Order of up to $4.27 million to the ANZ Bank as security for the current borrowing facilities.

(b) Going Concern

The financial report has been prepared on the basis of the Company continuing as a going concern. The Company currently has a deficiency in net assets and current assets in comparison to it current liabilities. Despite this, the Company's directors consider the going concern assumption to be an appropriate basis for the preparation of the financial report as the AFL has committed to the economic support disclosed above in note 1(a) and has stated a commitment to support the Richmond Football Club and its ongoing support for a 16 team competition.

Due to the debt we owed to the banks we then had to pay around $300 - 400,000 per year in interest for a number of years.
It doesn't take much to go badly wrong and took us about ten years to rectify the situation.

Bad business decisions compounded by big payouts to find a quick fix can send a club down the tubes real quick.

Compounding North's troubles at the moment is that the AFL will not give the same guarantees again without getting total control (ie movement to another state, members rights ignored).

Think it was Laidley who said they were a club that couldn't afford to bottom out.

what happens if they get no one again ?

surely they will get moved to Tassie... Tassie Roos anyone ?

They are irrelevant here in melbourne.

Things aren't that bad.

According to an article on the AFL site, Billy Hartung was one of their best players in their loss to Melbourne.

I imagine if they had managed to snap Dusty, Billy wouldn't be with them this year.

On the AFL.com.au site an article listing "EYE CATCHERS FROM JLT1"

Norths was Hawthorn reject Billy Hartung :rofl, (no wonder they are in trouble).

Ours by the way was SHAI :clap

Billy 'the marlin' Hartung will single handedly bring #lolnorf back to the glory daya

Let's just hope that Majak Doormat isn't dropped before we play them. Jack could break Fred Fannings record
