Actually pencil him in now for that position. I think the first 4 have been decided already.

Do you think the order is set as well ? Or is there a reasonable chance we may see Trengrove or even Scully available at 3 ?

we need elite kickers.

We need to get rid of the guys who can't kick, which we failed to do during the trade period, and form a group of players who are good users of the footy. I wouldn't just pick one guy over the other because he is an elite kick. Judd isn't an elite kick but I would like him in our side.

BTW I have not seen anything more than the clips of the players and am not comparing morabito to Judd. What the highlights did show is that Morabito is a more dangerous player while Martin is a nice footballer but not as dangerous. Either looks good though.

That's interesting. Most, even those who have high praise of Morabito say the clips don't do him justice at all. He looks pretty average on the clips to me and nowhere near as dangerous or polished as Martin if we are just looking at the clips. Of course, in memory of JON, we hope the Richmond recruiters are not just using clips.

I am confident Melbourne will go Scully and Trengove.

We look set to get Martin and thank God. Morabito at Richmond will be frustrating. Not in the same class as Martin.

IMHO you're underrating Judd's kicking, he may not be a long kick and his kicking for goal is not great but his field kicking at the right distance is very damaging.

Maybe the Judd of 2 or 3 years ago. Did you watch him this year? A lot of turnovers.

you have obviously seen a fair bit of most kids especially vics but i have to ask just how much of morabito you have seen.

the gap between this kid and the other 3 in class could not possibly be as great as most seem to think. admittedly ive seen little of martin but i have to say ive seen morabito in one game do as well or better most things martin has done in his highlight packages.
underestimate this kid at your peril.

Agree that has been my point for months. The gap is very small, Martin isn't that far behind Morabito. ;D
Naw, it is dead level. Real toss of the coin stuff. The biggest thing that has annoyed me is the percieved attitude problems. Martin is no angel and maybe a bigger risk then Morabito off the field.

Some nice reading on both Morabito and Martin.

Morabito's kicking is the one thing that seperates these boys, if his kicking was to Martins levels then chaces are we would be talking about him going at number 1 not number 4.

For me go the safe bet in Martin will be a top 200 game footballer and has some decent upside considering he was a late starter.

Whilst I don't disagree with this, Morabito could end up being a far better player.

Just a question for those Junior footy watchers, based purely on talent, how would you compare Martin to Cotchin?

If Trent Cotchin was in this draft, he would go number 1. Pretty simple.

Spot on.

As good as Scully and Trengove are I dont think they have the class of Cotchin.

I don't think we could afford to take the risk with a "Could" end up being a far better player.

You have to keep in mind that Martin still has large scope for improvement, remember he was unearthed and developed late, so he still has a fair bit to learn.

I also have question marks over Morabito's POS counts, for a guy that has played against men you would be expecting him to dominate his peers.

Martin can atleast kick the ball and is not slow, although he needs to learn how to use his speed a little bit better.

We have enough guys that struggle to pinpoint passes, we don't need another one in Morabito, his kicking IMO is not great, he tends to either kick and hope or lob the ball onto his team mates head making it easy to spoil.

Yeh, but the hardest part regarding Cotchin is gettin' the colt onto the track.

Maybe just let him settle for a season or two in a forward pocket, like Gary Ablett did in his early years, then build him into a midfielder.

Too much, too early, for a boy with a history of leg injuries.

Cotchin that is.
