Pick 53: Jack Graham

Yep. There's plenty who oughta hang their heads after some of the bagging they've dished out to this kid.

I certainly questioned what else he could offer the team earlier in the season. It appears to me he’s dropped some weight and added some agility to his game. He’s definitely looking faster across the ground, with the addition of some lateral movement as well.

Good times.

Spot on Midsy.

I've had my doubts, and his form has been inconsistent at times. But if he can bring that sort of game, he's in.

Lots of people have had doubts. But this kid has had serious injury issues over the last five years ( torn quad muscles as a junior, hamstring tendonitis, fractured ankle, shoulder reco ) interrupting the hell out of his match conditioning. Kid's a huge performer when fully fit n with some match condition under the belt, he's still only played 35 games n hasn't finished his apprenticeship yet. Simply can't understand the amount of knockers he's had over his three seasons.

If he and Ross can play at their full potential , it gives our midfield a different dimension

He could not get another kick in his career and he will still go down as a tiger legend after his Grand Final performance!! Great to see him hitting his straps at the right time of year again!

Just heard him on Triple M, said Rancey gave him the nickname Fridge after 2 weeks at the club as they reckon he's always full of food

With that list of injuries you make a good point. Let's see if he can be consistent, moreso next year since this year has seen interuptions to his preparation. I hope he can play out this year in great form and get a good pre-season in, then we can see what he really is capable of. I think a lot of us are more than happy to be convinced when we see what Jack Graham is capable of. If he develops as he gets around the 50-80 game mark it could get very exciting.

As a defensive mid he’s a serious upgrade on Conca.

The guys a tackling machine & his pressure work off the ball is a revelation.

Throw in his faultless kicking for goal and I can understand how he won the Larke Medal, but am still flabbergasted we were able to steal him at Pick#53.

Someone smart on here, sorry forget who, pointed out "recency bias" in drafting - so if a player gets injured and doesn't play much in the year of their draft, they slip. Part of this would be conscious, risk of being injury prone, risk of not recovering fully, but I'm sure some is unconscious, "yeah that Graham seemed ok last year but the kid I watched dominate SANFL last week is much better".

Geez David. Did you miss his finals in 2017? Or his efforts in the latter half of this year? When he's got rid of injury niggles n built some match condition he plays beast footy which was again highlighted by his performance against Carlscum. He's more than capable of plenty, nothing to be convinced about except a bit of consistency that has been caused by injury interruptions.
Fridge isn't n probably never will be a high possession mid, he's a defensive mid in that his first job is to tackle, harrass n pressure the opposition mids at ruck contests n the fall of the ball at marking contests. He's the main one forcing the opposition into dirty ball disposals at the clearances so that we can pounce on the rubbish n get our rebounding turn overs into space. Also proven to be more than capable of causing score board damage when he gets the sneaky opportunity to rummage around the forward line.

Gee he was racking them up in the VFL just before he got the call-up in late 2017. Since then he seems to have been limited to tagging/defensive duties. Injuries and maybe designated role haven't helped.

We may be just witnessing his 2017 capabilities re-emerge.

Ross and Graham look like two gangsters out of Peaky Blinders. Genuine hard men. Genuine tough. And laugh at you when the hurt you.

Can build around these two. Future leaders.

Tommy Shelby and Alfie Solomons? Like it.
Towner’s gotta be Arthur Shelby.
