OK, we'll talk about it again tonight on FOOTYOLOGY FINAL SIREN, but consider stats. Prior to the pre-finals bye, QF winners won 17/18 prelim finals. Since? This will make it just 4/10. That's a pretty dramatic reversal, no? Surely AFL has to discuss it? #AFLLionsCats #AFLFinals

I'm personally not a fan of the bye, but if they're going to put it in they need to use it better. Make it either "Awards week", Brownlow, both AA teams, Coaches player of the year, AFLPA MVP, or put a State of origin game for teams not in finals or have the under 18 carnival or grand final or something. It's just a nothing week at the moment

Tigers line up will test the Catters big time with all our team ready to rock & roll. If luv child Gary thinks it is going to be his day he better start looking in the mirror.

On that performance, there are things to watch out for but certainly not to be feared. On the other hand they will have every reon to be concerned about next week

Ins for us will include the likes of Prestia, Edwards, Astbury etc. Significant INS compared to the last time we played.

Reckon the best and third-best teams got through to the GF. Not worth complaining about.

Everyone wants to change stuff when their team isn't winning.

The argument about the QF winning team having a disadvantage in the prelims is exactly the same as the situation from 1931-1992.. The top team or second that has week one off wins week two and goes straight thought to Gf after another week off. For most of the 60 years that was the preferred path to,a flag.

Great point.

Add to this the finals before VFL Park and the Final 5.

Every team had a week off somewhere along the line.

Week 1: 1st Semi - 3rd v 4th
Week 2: 2nd Semi - 1st v 2nd
Week 3: Preliminary - winner 1st semi v loser 2nd semi
Week 4: Grand Final - winner 2nd semi v winner Preliminary

I think the umpires are still on the field looking for another Brisbane player to receive a free.

Brisbane were flattered by inconsistent umpiring and Geelong inaccuracy. When the hype doesn’t match the skills you are in trouble. Brisbane and Port had the armchair ride all the way to the Grand Final in the COVID Cup and both choked.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop at least into the bottom half of the eight next season.

Especially port.
They will get a top 6 draw.
The AFL is thinking of a 24 game season.
God help them if they get us, Geelong, Collingwood and WC twice

That is certainly true now, but hasn't always been magnaminous or charitable.

he has always been willing to talk and put his opinion across but he seems to have made an effort to cut out the sarcasm

Good, can’t stand the pre finals bye, it clearly has an impact. Bulldogs would not have won a flag. We would be going for 4 in a row

Let's not forget as well that Port and especially Brisbane played a lot of games at home and had a relatively normal life whilst other teams were in bubbles away from normality and loved ones for a long time. Imo this easily accounted for the 1. 5 to 2 games ahead they both finished on the ladder. I don't think it has much to do with the extra week's break, all to do with who was the better team. In theory, due to the gruelling timetable of the season Port and Brisbane should have been advantaged by the break. They simply weren't good enough.
