Sydney Stack

Sydney has played two big games in a row.

We're playing a very open brand in the magoos. As we have in the ones, much to our occasional dismay. This brand suits Stack. He's been licensed to find space around the ground and work in it. He's lifted his coverage and urgency. His touch is still not always perfect but is occasionally sublime. We're getting less speckie, more ground ball and crucially - run to receive.

Stack is beginning to look like an AFL outside midfielder. A very classy one. This is a development. I wasn't expecting it.

RFC has been patient and should continue to be. I think we will keep him on next year.

That cheekbone was another hurdle for Stack. Then his nan.

If we can keep him engaged he is very close right now. But it's fragile. He needs a bit of luck. (The other kind.)

Thought Coleman was Brisbane's best player from half back.

Stack and Pickett terrorising the opposition will force the AFL to change the rules on the bump. It will be a free kick if you bump and the thud is louder than 100dB.

Relax Harry Dimma took 15 weeks to work out we have a Caddy look a like in the 2's.

We've done this dance re Baker forward before. Doesn't work. Short may be out of form, but will take a lot more for him to be dropped.

He's turned games for us playing in that role. Need to persist. It's a tough but important role. Baker can do it.

We can do with Stack's smarts and delivery from the backline. He isn't a forward and we are wasting his talents. Coleman from the Lions is a good comparison.
