Sydney Stack

West Coast wouldn't go anywhere near him even if they had picks. If he ends up back with his family about the only jumper he'll be pulling on is an Acacia Prison one.
If Richmond really want to keep him then they'll try to ensure he stays in Melbourne and gets on the straight and narrow. If they've let him go home then I'm betting they've given up on him.

My understanding is Syd got out of Adelaide as quickly as humanly possible and is back in WA.

Understandable for him to bolt to what he knows, the only problem is what he knows might not be the best for him.

He stated as much that he needed to get out of WA to make it, due to too many bad influences.

Hopefully the kid has had enough of a realisation thats it up to him to get it back on track and is keeping his nose clean and doing what he needs to.

Surely the club has someone in WA in looking in or having meetings with him or maybe even training with him or am I being naive.

Right now whilst the season is in session for the RFC I just cant see him being left without direction or posts to hit, ie training sessions or meetings.

Same for Callum.

I personally liked Stakman in the half back role, but I suspect his foot injury took some agility and subsequently confidence away.
He needs to be nurtured at this time not criticised and further punished as his actions do not deserve the punishment already received.

Jesse Hogans lawyer offered this defence for his Covid Breach

Hogan's lawyer, Terry Dobson, told the court his client "fell into a trap because of the attraction of a young lady" and that it was "a lapse in judgment" after not being with a woman for several months.

We should hire him to appeal Stackman's sentence. Its so easy to fall under the spell of a mixed kebab, after several months of abstinence.

Well at least he's managed to stay out of the tabloids.

He knows that he is hanging on by a thread.
Any stuff ups now will see his career over.
I can't believe how Stengle thinks he is the AlCopone of Adelaide

This year would test the mettle of even the strongest characters and minds. I'm giving Syd a pass and hope that he can build on his first year's efforts.

But the life of an AFL footballer requires enormous discipline and the sacrifice of a large part of everyday age-specific social norms. It's not for everyone.

But I'm optimistic about Syd - like I am about Chol - and believe that he'll turn out to be AA, a Brownlow, Jack Dyer and Norm Smith medallist.

Succeeded living in a hub for 3 months. Not enough is made of that.

Succeeded by not screwing up earlier? That's a low bar. He played like shyte for that whole period.

I hate to be critical of the guy and hope he can utilise his talent, but this was an incredibly poor season from him, even leaving out the kebabgate thing.

Looked like Andrew Raine's did after his rising star runner up. Like a bloke who had no idea what he did the season before that made him a talent.

I'm easier on the on-field form, certainly not the first guy to find things tougher second year in. It's a much harder year physically and mentally on the field.

The question is can he handle the application and dedication required for elite football and does he have the appetite to make the sacrifices required?

At the moment you could only answer maybe and that's probably generous.

Second year blues is a thing, but that was something else.

My theory on the kabab transgression is that the Gold Coast nightlife is almost irresistible in it's glitzy, sleazy attraction to a lot of young men. It's brighter and cleaner than The Cross but edgier than St Kilda in it's overt, rough sexual appeal. These guys were conned by the glamour and the dirt - and they were the only ones caught. For sure, a lot more were out cruising than we've heard about.
