Talking Politics

How embarrassing for Australia being represented at a climate change conference in Peru by our Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop and Trade Minister Andrew Robb who is a climate change sceptic.

Nah, "embarrassing" is the PM's badge of honour. He thrives on unpopularity. He thinks it makes him a game changer. He can perservere and drag the whole country with him through the mire and stand at the end bloodied and mud drenched with the country in tatters at his feet and declare himself victor against the odds. It is a mother-Theresa-esque devotion to the catholic tradition that holds that suffering is essential to redemption. Australia has lost its way and the PM is just the man to lead it back into the light.

With all the lies he has been telling he'd be keep his local priest busy in the confessional.

I recon it is mainly because G Hunt is just a real non-event and would be smashed by the others at the conference. At least Robb does have some nous and Bishop will just give anyone the death stare before going for a jog regardless of the weather... whoopee for us.

He's havin a laugh.

doesn't give a toss what the public thinks.

Two years to go before the next election. Oodles of time to recover or sink deeper.

FWIW I think the Russians will up the ante in the cold war stakes and suddenly Tony will be our saviour.

Your garden variety Australian is pretty stupid, lets face it.

Turns out I'm Nostredamus but only thanks to the international date line, he was already talking about sweating blood. Maybe the PM sees himself as less of a Mother Theresa and more of a Joan of (Ken Hamm's) Arc?

He just proves Abbott's dog whistling approach is succeeding.

Dog whistles hey?
Of course your broad intelligence sources and unbiased thinking knows better.
Naive and ignorant, totally.

Hockey has announced today in the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook that this Government's forecast budget deficit has blown out $10 billion in seven months.
$10 billion larger than was forecast in May....

You're right, we should just go about business as usual.

I don't get your point, what are you trying to say? A guy with a history of mental health issues grabs a gun and pretends to be at one with ISIS and suddenly he's a member of a heinous sleeper cell? If anything, Abbott's eagerness to jump into yet another war has given the crackpots good fodder to work with, the more people carry on with the hysterical hypothesising, the more it's likely to happen. This is the paradox, we haven't endured an Islamic 'terrorist' attack on home soil under any other regime yet it's now all guns blazing with Abbott & his ASIO gunslingers. If one was to create a fertile ground for extremism then this is it, under Abbott you can expect more angry & marginalised muslims, that is at the heart of the issue. Distrust breeds hate, dog whistlers are the last thing we need right now.

So Tim, do you think the 'roads' chosen by this government has...
a. Decreased our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
b. Increased our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
c. Made no change to our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
