Talking Politics

I got a heap of messages from my english mates asking, seriously, WTF are we thinking ? NFI was the 3 letter response.

the QLD election is tomorrow. apparently labour need a crazy 12% swing to win it and polls suggest they might pull it off. to put it in another context, the LNP hold 73 seats out of 89 in the lower house (labour only have 9 and the right wing katter party have 3) and yet could still lose.

i don't know a lot about the major issues going on up there, but perhaps PREnders in QLD can let us know how much of a factor abbott has been in this campaign?

The fact Abbott has been told to stay away from QLD during the campaign would suggest he's a major reason for the swing.

Newman and Napthine have asked him to be elsewhere during elections. Will be interesting in Qld. If the LNP lose this one.....sheesh....

Good to see Tonnes come out today and say that he is the great Captain behind what he thinks are the strong showings of some of his fellow ministers. Go Team Australia...... :rofl

Wonder what they think of their success being attributed to Tone's Captaincy?

Huge swings to the ALP in Qld so far. Looking bad for the LNP and Newman as even he has incurred a "losing" swing in his seat.

Vic and Qld election losses all influenced by One Wink Tone.

It wasn't Tone's fault though. He deliberately chose, all on his own initiative in his captaincy position, to stay out of all state election campaigns. Blame lies with Campbell Newman. So Rupe, please back off picking on Tone.

Tony, has hurt Dennis and now Campbell. No use saying otherwise.

Just saw an interview with Warren Entsch on the ABC who a federal LNP member in north Qld. His attitude is why they are stuffed, he just doesn't get it. It's everybody else's fault..the unions, PUP, negative politics, Alan Jones

The Liberal party cannot seem to understand the difference between the words what and how. Whether we agree or not there are a lot of Australians who believe that we have to reign in Government deficits but the Liberals don't get that the voting public don't like how it is being done. They reject the politics of mean, of unfairness.

Until the Liberals work this out State Governments will fall and so will the LNP Federal government in 2016 I predict.

He's the Captain of the firsts, not the seconds.

Judging by the quality of Australian politicians at the moment, it'd be laughable to describe him as any more than captain of the under 10's. (sorry if I've offended any children out there)
