So Tim, do you think the 'roads' chosen by this government has...
a. Decreased our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
b. Increased our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
c. Made no change to our chances of being subject of a terrorist attack(s)?
No idea but people will always find a reason/excuse to do what they want to do. But what "roads" are you referring to?

Jumping into a war without hesitation has heightened our terrorist risk for starters, even Abbott conceded that point. But further to that, the Daily Terrorgraph and other Murdoch tabloids have been deliberately sensationalising the recent events to whip up hysteria in the community. Remember the guy with the sword who featured on the front page of all the daily rags recently? It was a plastic sword purchased as an ornament, yet somehow this was meant to be used for a public beheading. Separating fact from fiction is nigh on impossible in this environment and the more terrorism is politicised the more it will be used by the nut cases to gain the attention they crave.

Ah Tony. I've done the ironing. I've balanced the household budget. What more is there for a woman to do?

http://www.theshovel.com.au/2014/12/22/how-the-abolition-of-the-carbon-tax-changed-my-life-australian-women/

It’s the Government’s biggest achievement for women this year. We asked a group of Australian women to share their own stories about how the end of the carbon tax led to greater equality, better safety, and less prejudice.

“Equal pay was always going to be an uphill battle with the carbon tax in place”.

Olivia Dresden, Sydney

“The guys at work take me seriously now. They look me in the eye when they talk to me, not at my carbon tax”.

Wendy Whitehead, Melbourne

“Last year I lost out on a promotion to a man with less experience. But the abolition of the carbon tax has paved the way for my rise to CEO”.

Felicity Pollock, Sydney

“Yes, there were some overt carbon taxes that were hurtful. But it was actually the casual carbon taxes, the carbon taxes that popped up in every day situations, that affected me the most”.

Sam Walker, Horsham

“Childcare spots used to be so hard to find. That’s changed since Tony Abbott got rid of the carbon tax.”

Belinda Squires, Melbourne

“I’m judged on my talents now, not on what I’m wearing. That’s what scrapping the tax did for me”.

Susie Holt, Gold Coast

“I feel so much safer walking alone at night now that that scary big tax has been removed”.

Amy Tan, Newcastle

“I used to hate walking past building sites. All those guys staring at me and shouting ‘Show us your big new tax!’ That just doesn’t happen any more”.

Deb Krigos, Adelaide

“Since the carbon tax was abolished, the number of women in federal ministries in this country has increased by 100%. Fact.”

Unnamed Government spokeswoman, Canberra

hmmm. need a distraction from the No Carbon Tax Is Good For Women mishap. Look over there, Terrorists!

and a distraction from the fact he is the 'minister for women' in the 1st place,
and a distraction from the fact they have admitted another mistake by re-introducing a science portfolio,
and a distraction from their shift of early childhood education from the education portfoilio to the 'welfare' portfolio,
and a distraction from the fact their whole immigration policy appears to revolve around stopping the boats (and punishing those already here) effectively ignoring any other type of immigration,
and a distraction from their removal of funding from many peak advocacy groups for the most vulnerable effectively removing their voice.

Didn't notice that.

That means policy relating to our 3-4 year olds will be in Scott Morrison's portfolio. That is a scary thought

So the unmitigated disaster that is the Abbott government continues to lurch from one policy backflip to the next - and now they are leaking like sieves to pass the blame amongst themselves while they jockey for the PM'ship.

Looks like One-Term-Tony may not even survive one term. If only my old mate Livers were here to enjoy.

I liked part of the comment from la bout de la nuit:

My money is on for after oz day and the Qld election. I also will not be watching Abbott trip over his words in his Australia Day speech.

I'll be watching and waiting for him to pull another one from his suppository of malapropisms.

http://www.watoday.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/strong-welfare-cop-scott-morrisons-new-selfproclaimed-title-20150122-12vkqw.html

we are lucky to have a strong welfare cop on the beat to make sure those 3 yos arent rorting their milk allocation.

seriously though, all Morrison, and generally the Libs, talk about is being 'tough' on 'rorters', generally they pick easy targets. they have very little to say about how they will help improve lives.

The non-News Corp media is certainly turning up the heat on Abbott. I wonder if this a concerted pay back effort by some of the reporters or whether the Libs, front and back, are leaking like sieves.

if it's the latter, Tone wont last the year out.

And no refugee wants to go live in Cambodia but we the taxpayers of Australia still have to fork out $40 million a year to the Cambodian government for them to look after nobody. This after we've spent millions of dollars on the navy to intercept families of men, women and children and then imprison them indefinitely.

And Australian journalists reporting on asylum seeker issues are being referred to AusFedPol. Nice police state you got going there Tone.

But the important thing is we have stopped the boats.

Exactly it is disgusting to say the least. And we treat fellow human beings like this is reprehensible. But as long as we stop those disgusting boat people coming in, well that's the main thing hey Tonnes...
