Training For 2023

Interesting theory, were they night games?

I know guys with contacts have said before they find night games much tougher.
Havn’t researched that but I think they were night games. But whenever … he was just having so much trouble judging the ball in flight!

The departure of Houli and Astbury had a far greater impact than envisaged on paper.
Triple premiership defenders.
Common sense right there - can’t believe ppl dismiss that and dont realise how and why we haven’t been close to premierships cause of our defence

I can't remember where, but I do remember either Balta himself or someone else commenting that he had more trouble seeing the ball in night games. It is noticeable that he does not seem to read the game well and can look all at sea, and I reckon it is his eyesight. There has to be a solution to this, I hope they are trying a few things, because we need Balta to perform well, which means he needs to see the ball well.

I wouldn’t stress about Cotch being used forward

He has been massive with crunching tackles and hard ball gets for a long time

He was the one to stand up in many big games

If he’s been given a deep forward role trust in his ability to adapt and for the other forwards to work both with him and for him to make it a success

Yes it’s Balta

I don't mind cotch playing forward in the twos, as back up to Shooter McCumberland

Yep, Cotch is a champion in the true sense of the word, he could've, and still could play in numerous positions, forward, midfield or back, of that I have no doubt what so ever.

I don't think glasses would make a positive difference over contacts. Contacts are actually better at correcting for astigmatism. I think it's just a by-product of less light, it messes with the depth perception and judgement of a ball in flight a tad.
If all of that is correct then maybe he should be considering laser treatment to correct his vision. Just a thought bubble.

There's a good one just accross the road from Tigers, maybe he's not able to have corrective surgery, I had it done some 16 years ago and the type of surgery depends on your eyes, some can't do any of them.

I seem to recall something from a few years back about Noah having to wait a few years before e gets corrective surgery

we were the highest scoring team in the comp last year so our scoring is pretty sound. Our defence needs to tighten up considerably if we want to contend, and hopefully having the two new mids in will strengthen us all over the ground
midifeld leakage was the red alert from our review I reckon.

with the way we play (and the goddam stand rule) the back seven are gonna get caught out occasionally, it's inevitable.

you are 100% correct, the GWS boys will solidify our stoppage presence and result in 1-2 less goals against, which is all we need to contend for flag 14.

It also doesn't help that the ball has been coming down far too easily of late. Our backline held up well considering.

Live at the ground i thought "what's he done there?" & marveled at the replay. Because it's such a contest of a game it's easy to forget until it happens watching it back.
