Did ok tonight. Even gave one of our forwards a free in front of goal.

We did better tonight, then we have done in the last 3 years.
Free's
The good.
*Lynch held by Barass
*Soldo held by Barass
*Riewodlt in the back
*Nakas down the ground free

The Bad.
*Shuey on the wing gets caught holding the ball, ball up.
*Darling in the back
*Darling holding against Balta.
*Ryan knees Markov in the head, unrealistic attempt.

Biggest difference last night,
There midfielders get very soft free kicks.
The ones that we would never get.

Thought it was one of the better umpired games. Appeared to be a free against Pickett on Cripps they missed.

I was shocked with those frees to our forwards.

Think Darling one against Bslta was there. Can’t wrap arms around like that.

The McGovern push in the back against Lynch in the first quarter

I thought they missed plenty of obvious ones, both ways. Cripps held just before 1/4 time and Houli caught in the goal square could've gone against us on another night.

Free-flowing game helps take the focus off the umpiring.

Was a bit surprised by the -5 count. Apart from the free and mark paid to Taberner, didn't feel like we were hard done by.

Must've received very few frees between the first 10 minutes and the last 10.

Last night i just lost count how many free kicks we didn't get.
Jack being held twice
Lynch's arm hit flying for a mark.
Castagna too high, play on.
Bolton too high, play on
Broad too high, play on
Big V too high, play on

Apart from the one to Taberner I agree - thought the umps were OK although there were a few missed ones we should have got but didn’t but I am used to that now.

It felt in the first qtr the umps were clearly letting the play go on as there were some frees that both sides may have got but didn’t. I even started to wonder if the umps were even playing at one stage.

I was worried at one stage in the last when I think Aarts ran in and kicked a goal that he had run to far.

Frees: Freo 18, (2,15, 1) . Rich 13 (2,9,2)

Are those numbers in brackets frees in defence, mid, forward?

If so, do they publish these or does one of us have to watch the game to work this out?

Looks like we give a lot of frees away in the middle, wonder if there is a reason for that.

The adjudication of holding the ball last night was woefully inconsistent. I know it is a difficult rule to interpret at times but the key is to do so consistently, then the players get some idea what is happening. Otherwise the players will just try it on and the supporters get pissed off as we can't work out what the interpretation is.

And herein lies the problem.

I'm sure we could pick out a pile for Freo players too.

When they only pay some free kicks they can only be inconsistent.

I also recall Jack being hit in the head at one point and Freo got the free kick.
