Gibcus is doing more than alright for a first year kid no real body strength to speak of according to Dylan, he is 75kgs soaking wet. He has dropped a little off as the season has progressed but not surprising as he has had to some real heavy lifting against the odds and has acquitted himself. Over the preseason he will learn more of his trade, hopefully fill out a bit and really go next season

Was a tale of 2 halves for young Josh.
First half he looked overawed & timid.
Whatever was said to him at half time he came out with a completely different approach & displayed some of the traits that had us excited early in the season.
With Grimesy out indefinitely, his role down back is actually quite important.
The expectations are probably unfair as a first year tall but he's got so much talent.

Whatever happens with the Gibber, Moju, Cummers, Rossy Funky n Sonz the finals experience will be priceless for their development n future growth. Hoping they all get a run in at least the first final regardless of results. These blokes are future n need all the learning under pressure they can get.

Probably told him to just out and have fun.
The opposition wasn't much chop, and he did do a couple of nice things in the second half, nice grab and a couple of deft touches.

Gibcus' problem is that he is a first year player with a first year body and he is playing against seasoned key position goliaths.

He just looks so slight next to the big forwards, just a fact of life at his age probably looks like a goliath next to any of us).

The experience he gains now will be invaluable, he will develop and he will get bigger and stronger. I figure the club understands this much better than any of us can and have been making sure Josh knows it. A first year player at age 19 is always going to struggle in a key position role, the trick is to give him the experience without wrecking his development. It looks fine now and hopefully we will see him emerge as one of the best key backs in a few years.

Think he started to turn the corner last night - he started the year very confident, he lost it and now its coming back.

Someone send this to that *smile* Sheehan.

So all the AFL players believe he is in the top 4 but the senile old prick Sheehan can't fit him in the top 23!

Yeah saw that but thought it strange as I thought that was what the rising star award was for.

At least his first year is being recognised outside the club.

Josh Gibcus was recruited to Richmond with the Club’s first selection at last year’s NAB AFL Draft (No. 9 overall) before earning his AFL debut in Round 1 this season.
The 19-year-old key defender has played 17 senior games, impressing with his athleticism, marking and long accurate kicking.

Stolen from BoofFooty. Wins a greater percentage of his defensive one-on-ones than Harris Andrews, Ben McKay, Harrison Petty, Brennan Cox, James Sicily, Sam De Koning, Aliir Aliir, Alex Pearce, Robbie Tarrant, Jacob Weitering, Jeremy Howe, Tom Barrass, Luke Ryan. Granted most of them play on the big guns and he's mainly third tall. Still. Not bad for a kid.
