Old school, if people were making up *smile* about you. You could front up n slap the bastards around the head a bit. Now it's all done hiding behind a key board n the *smile* gets spread worse than any plague ever did. Geez i miss the old days.

It really shouldn't be too hard to track down who was the first to make reference to Higlet's missus. They should be publicly revealed, named and shamed. Treat them as they treat people who spew racial bile at players and celebs. That's the only way to stop the gutless online anonymous behaviour

Sued for libel would be better.

I’d love to see some of the scum flogs on another forum that feed on BS get exposed publicly. It’s happened in the US so only a matter of time before it happens here

Just a question though. Why haven’t any of our players made any congratulatory comments or farewell comments to rancey on social media. It is extremely weird that not one player has posted anything

Because they don’t believe he’s truly retired maybe?

Maybe they're not going to do it, because Rance is retiring under duress (wife leaving). Maybe they're hopeful he is coming back so won't say cya later. Maybe he asked for a low key farewell, hence the Xmas timing. Maybe there's another reason, Christmas breaks, saying it in person. Maybe it's not how a Richmond man behaves.
I think there's more concern about people jumping at shadows and creating drama and innuendo over something they have no control over and get wound up over a football player. He's just a human.

Question is how much damage could this *smile* have done within the playing group and the team culture.

I'm hoping its all *smile* and Chinese Whispers and will have no impact on the playing group.

The other thing thats bothered me the past couple of weeks being the carnival returnof the mens side returning to pre season as an adjunct to the women.

Too much distraction for this pre season kick off for mine so far, not really great for refocussing the playing group.

Social media is used to tarnish the reputations of people whether the rumours are true or untrue. As long as nothing damages our club then just ignore the rumours.

Why post when they can talk. They're all close to each other.

Dunno. If it ends in divorce, he's likely going to need the money only footy can offer.

I am thinking that he won’t be back this year though regardless. If that is the case then it will effectively be 2 years out of footy.

They might also be giving him a bit of space. Seems to me the last thing he needs right now, regardless of what he is dealing with, is intrusion into his life, even from mates. Social media will always draw a response from those who can access it and it just adds interest to the situation.

Granted, many people are reading a lot into the Social Media silence from his team mates and making up stuff from it, so maybe the strategy is flawed.
