Can you please go back to rolling the player you are tackling?
Jack now tackles from behind and lands square in the oppositions back.

Too aggressive?
Too fierce?
Too strong?
Too slow?
Shoulders not strong enough now?

Jack used to tackle and go to ground with the player, on his own knee.
Now seems to tackle and just collapse on their back.
Whatever the reason, please practice pinning the arm and turn the player, or holding them up in the tackle

I'm Not writing him off just yet. I'd give him some time to get his body right, which I don't think it is at the moment. He's born to play finals footy, lets get him right for that.

The reason Jacky G keeps infringing in the oppos back all the time is because he is too slow and cannot catch them to roll a tackle, he is lunging at them now most of the time and they just flop forward easy done.

The shoulders have hobbled his defensive tackling ability.

But more to the point is that he is looking slower and cant seem to jump, his sure hands have become fumbly, he fumbled a perfect lay down from Soldo into an open shot at goal last week and just dropped it and fumbled it twice over the boundary at a critical juncture in the game.

Graham at his best doesnt do that.

Like Rioli, he’s got one good finals performance. The 2019 prelim was extremely brave, but it’s not a 2017 GF performance.

Mason Cox has the 2018 prelim too. It doesn’t make him a finals football player.

he’s cooked.

agree on cox, but rioli and graham have shown it on more than one occasion.

Graham in finals
2017 QF 9 touches
2017 Prelim 14 touches
2017 GF 16 touches, 3 goals

2018 QF 7 touches
2018 Prelim 8 touches

2019 QF 14 touches

3 games with less than 10 disposals, and 2 with 14 disposals. None of those performances (barring the outlier 2017 GF) tell me he’s a finals footballer.

Rioli in finals

2017 QF - 0 Goals
2017 Prelim - 4 Goals
2017 GF - 0 Goals

2018 QF - 3 Goals
2018 PF - 0 Goals

2019 QF - 2 Goals
2019 Prelim 0 Goals
2019 GF - 1 Goal

4 finals of 0 goals, 3 finals of multiples. None of these are finals footballer stats either (barring 2017 prelim outlier)

Cox’s stats would show similar non-performance with an outlier.

Rioli and Graham are two role players riding the coattails of two one-off performances 3 years ago IMO.

You need to look at what their respective roles were in this final games to really know I reckon.

Graham at least is often used as a run with player.

yep, a fair point because I don’t know who his opponents were on the night.

However as a midfielder with as many sub-10 disposal finals as 10+ disposals doesn’t say “finals footballer“ to me, personally.

Graham often plays a run with role, so not sure why you're using disposals as a guide for his worth, and a big strength of riot's is his pressure in the forward line, not just his goal kicking. Your stats have proved my statement right though. They've both had great finals performances on more than one occasion.

A finals footballer to me is high performance and consistency, and I think Graham and Riolis finals campaigns have been more sporadic. Is that an unfair observation?

It can be (an unfair observation) dependent upon what the coach wanted them to do at the time - and that might not be measured only in disposal type stats

To say Graham is cooked at 22 is drama queen material

He has proved that he is a fighter and has even been mooted as a future leader.

Rioli's role, like Graham, doesn't require him to rack up possessions but he is out of sorts ATM.

Needs to find something quickly otherwise the year could be lost for him.

Maybe having Junior here next year will be the spark.

Rioli was very good against Brisbane in the qualifying final last year as well.

He has also demanded the oppositions best small defender allowing others such as Bolton and Castagna more freedom. To say he isn’t a finals player is pure rubbish

Meh. He’s more of a finals footballer than Graham IMO, but he’s still gone missing more often than not in finals. He’s overrated.
