Be a sad day when Cotchin calls it a day.
You can see what an inspirational captain he is who leads by example.

The only ? is his body.

Has two seasons in a row ruined by hamstring injuries.

Not sure there has ever been a 30+ yr old improve their hamstring durability, might be wrong but I doubt it.

Shaping a bit like Deledios career, where at a similar age he got some injuries that meant he played less and less, output was just as good, Lids made the AA team when he missed 6/7 games in a season from memory.

If Cotchin stays fit for the next 3/4 years he doesnt need to play 22 games a year, 10 is fine as long it includes all our finals, if he can do that could win more flags.

Cotchin has needed management , and going forward he needs to be managed for as long as we can.

His hamstring durabilty has a massive correlation with our chances of success

Players younger than Cotch require ongoing injury management. I don't think he would retire due to his body.

I know certain people on here don't agree, but imo there's a section of the footy media who can't wait for us to fall over so they can lay the blame at Cotch's feet.
Read some *smile* written by a supposedly senior journalist Michael Gleeson of the Age yesterday which included this...

Other issues, such as the fine handed to the club for a breach of COVID-19 rules by Trent Cotchin and his wife

Here I was thinking that it was Brooke who was at the spa!

I've said before that I won't be surprised if he pulls the pin at the end of the year. Still hold that view.

Yep - I'm gonna lay all the blame for 3 flags on Cotchin.

Wouldn't be surprised if we win this year's flag that he stands down as Captain, but stays on for another year or two.

I'm sure transition of the captaincy will be discussed after the season is completed.

No! I won't have it! He can only take the blame for two.

2017 will always belong to every Tiger fan who attended that Finals' series and screamed his or her lungs out until the opposition sat down in the foetal position and whimpered quietly.

Ok, and Cotch!

And Dusty!

And the rest of the list!

You're right. Three it is!

This week or next week he breaks the record for the longest serving RFC Captain. 2 maybe 3 times Premiership Captain, Brownlow. Hammy's starting to play up.

You could understand if he decides to hang up the boots if we have a successful season.

Might even be a deciding factor in Graham staying
Our longest serving captain and longest serving coach in the same era. A great era to be a Richmond supporter. Stability. Gone are the jokes of going through coaches every season. Even in our last great era from 67-80 we had 7 different captains ( 9 if you extend the era to 1982)
Great leadership at the club both on and off the field

Hold your head high skip. Outstanding defensively tonight. You bought the heat.

Come to the conclusion that Joel Selwood and Trent Cotchin are one and the same.

The poor discipline that has been evident on occasions this year, was costly against Port, and now arguably cost us a QF last Friday, has on occasion been led by Trent. When things aren’t quite going our way, he is prone to the odd frustrated head high tackle (free against) and extended wrestle / push and shove. Occasionally, this can be constructive. Lately, it’s been counterproductive, costing us in terms of free kick/s, but most importantly setting a bad example. If the captain’s doing it, it’s an invitation for others to vent their frustration. Dusty and Caddy v Port. Shai, Marlion & co v Lions.
No wonder Dimma was irate after the Lions loss, knowing that the frees cost us vital momentum and probably the match, and a saloon passage through the finals.
But this team ill discipline problem is squarely his responsibility, and his anger should be at least in part directed at himself for failing to stamp it out. Perhaps it’s in part because, due to his special relationship with Trent (and Dusty), he has not been able to recognise their occasional discipline short comings, or if he has, been unable to have the hard chat to them about it - finding it easier to go off at lesser lights like Caddy.
Overall Trent’s leadership has been very good but he is not without his discipline blemishes, and he needs to accept he is part of the team problem and not shrug it off as a one-off aberration.
There was so much to play for on Friday night, and to put a shot at a premiership in jeopardy from undisciplined acts was very disappointing. Trent and Dimma need to stamp their authority on this issue, and Trent needs to do better and lead by example.

Tonight, for the first time, I started thinking that time has caught up with Chimp. He's had average games before but tonight there was something about his game that really worried me.

Two more monster efforts please Chimp.

Hate to say the same Baloo but was going to type the same thing.
On the edge and giving away free kicks ( high tackles). Angry.
Need a little bit more from you skipper.
Two more games.
