Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Has plenty credits in the bank no doubt but I expect more from our captain to be honest.
Has lashed out the last few weeks when usually I'd expect him to just put his head down, get his hands dirty and lead the way.
Not upset, just disappointed. I'm sure he'll respond the next week or so.

Had a ‘mare but was in our best six against Brisbane.

60 per cent game time (thanks EZY) suggests he was saving his legs.

What a beat up this thread is. Two more games WTF!!!

If he wants he has another 80 in him. Roll him to half back and can be AA again.

Thought Leysy's work in this thread was done after only he and a couple of PRE soldiers withstood the onslaught of calls to take the captaincy off him in 15/16'.

Looks like might need to step back in.
Couldn't agree more. I can't believe how quickly some jump off champions.

How fickle people are on here. Cotch has been our most influential player in I would say 70% of the games he has played this season. He brings the heat, desperation and hurt in contests that doesn't necessarily translate to disposals. He is our barometer and leads by sacrificing his body for the team's benefit.

One quiet game after he was in our best last week has people drawing the curtains on him? Fickle bunch.

Tackle looked bad to me. Luckily not much has been made of it in the media. Big TJLynch overshadowing him in the headlines.

I reckon I've counted 5 or 6 head high tackles from Cotch in the last couple of weeks. Is it frustration? Not sure but he's missing his target with his tackles a lot lately.

Tonight, for the first time, I started thinking that time has caught up with Chimp. He's had average games before but tonight there was something about his game that really worried me.

Two more monster efforts please Chimp.
the time Butler ran him down I said the same. He was in the clear had options ahead , maybe too many, Held onto way too long. Cold light of day seems Strange to make a leap from a bad moment to being on the slide but looks like others had similar thoughts. Still need big games next 2.

What worried me the most is that he's looking like he's playing frustrated. Hate to see him go the way of other greats who start playing ugly because their body can't keep up with their mind.

Goodes is the example I'm thinking of. Chimp isn't close to that yet but I wouldn't want to see him get close to that either.

Just my personal thought bubble, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if either or both Cotch n Jaaaack decide that they've done enough in footy if they win a third flag at the end of this year. Both getting a bit long in the tooth n not quite playing to their career personal standards. Both got families taking up a larger part of their lives n I'm pretty sure they'd both run a mile if they thought there was going to be any sort of Coroner hubs next year.

Would love to see them both play on next year, but I'm not so certain the hunger would be there if we get the third flag.

Jack will go again. He's said so publicly. Cotch I'm not sure. Like Rance, he could pull the pin at any time

Iv always felt with Cotchin that footy isn’t the be all end all for him, so wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled the pin or stepped away from captaincy.
Jack looks shot but there is a lot of value having a guy like him that can split packs and bring the ball to ground, even if you don’t hit the scoreboard, I guess the question is would he enjoy playing that role

As they say you are a long time retired.

I think both JR and Cotch go round again.

I actually think they are more likely to keep going if we win the flag.

Not worried about Shedda at all. He is our Burgoyne.

Have to agree somewhat TM.

I have a feeling both will hang up the boots at end of season win or lose. Jack in particular has lost it and should retire. No way is he the player of the good old days.
