I definitely take Johnson, not sold on the kicking of Gibcus, that isn't a deal breaker given Rance was wayward but at least Rance made up for that with metres gained. Gibcus has too many flaws for mine, he has good anticipation, his leap is used to good effect in marking contests without being Naughton good. I have my doubts he can become a forward but then again I said that about Naughton who continues to make a fool out of me.I’m not sold on Johnson totally, I worry he might be too vanilla and not athletic enough. But we need mids.
What if it’s Gibcus v Johnson at our pick. Still prefer Ward and Hobbs by a looooong way than Johnson.
I actually have it Ward/Johnson/Hobbs but I am warming to Hobbs after seeing Bengal's montage. I think Hobbs plays very much like Nathan Jones but with better kicking, so if we manage to get anything close to that service I'll be happy. Johnson is one of the few players in the draft who you can feasibly throw into other positions, that's pretty much my mandate this year, multi position talent with some added height. Kicking of course is paramount, as it is every year, and I like Goater for his upside potential but even if he bombs in the midfield I'm very confident he'll be fine as a rebounding defender.
