Does anyone think the Hobbs talk could be a smokescreen for us ?.
Certainly not like us to let a name out before the draft in recent times. 2 yrs ago we were "hot for Stocker" when it turns out we didn't even rate him. Carlton even traded up to "steal" him from us the talk was that red hot.

GC Suns Academy pre-list (rookie) Bohdi Uwlands and Sandy Brock before final list lodge today.

taking the *smile* with Brock (KPD -WAFL via NT).

my understanding is hes been a member of the Academy for all of 10 days.

its not like he looks like the next dylan grimes or anything,

but these pisstake cynical rule semantic stretches annoy the *smile* out of me.

i get the Suns need a leg up, but really? Theres a 195/100 accomplished kid called Will Bella moved from Cairns and has done 3 years in the Academy.

and it makes me wonder if Jason Horne wanted to, if he couldve signed up to the Academy a fortnight ago and be pre-listed for free?
Add the fact the NGA's can't be matched before pick 20 this yr & 40 next yr yet the Northern Academy players can still be matched anywhere they are bid on. The NGA bidding was changed after whingeing from up North over Ugle-Hagan. Ironic doesn't even begin to describe it. The *smile* weak media even talk about F/S compromising the Draft yet refuse to even hear "Northern Academy's" being mentioned in the same sentence regarding this topic. It *smile* me to tears.

1 Jason Horne Francis - North
2 Daicos
3 Darcy
4 Mac Andrew - GWS
5 Gibcus - Suns
6 Adelaide
7 Hawthorn
8 Rachelle - Freo
9 Richmond
10 Freo-Amiss

If it goes that way and I’m getting more and more confident it is, we get one of Hobbs, Ward or Callaghan.

Yep good summary Turkey. Rachele certainly makes so much sense in that context. I’m almost ready to lock that.
Whilst alot could change from now until draft time with teams trading picks and certain players not being available at particular picks , I have had this 1st round pencilled in apart from 1-2 players moving for most part since trade period ended and just a feel of where certain players may go depending on clubs needs.

1. Nrth Melb - Jason Horne-Francis
2. W.Bulldogs - Sam Darcy
3. GWS - Finn Callaghan
4. Collingwood - Nick Daicos
5. Gold Coast - Josh Gibcus
6. Adelaide - Ben Hobbs
7. Hawthorn - Josh Ward
8. Fremantle - Josh Rachele
9. Richmond - Matthew Johnson
10. Fremantle - Jye Amiss
11. St Kilda - Mac Andrew
12. West Coast - Neil Erasmus
13. Essendon - Josh Goater
14. Port Adelaide - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
15. GWS - Tyler Sonsie
16. Brisbane - Arlo Draper
17. Richmond - Jacob Van-Rooyen
18. Sydney - Mitch Knevitt
19. Melbourne - Sam Butler
20 . Brisbane - Josh Sinn

* Wilmot , Taylor , McDonald special mentions

Would it be possible to get both McDonald & Taylor from this position? That would be a good draft if possible.

By possible do you mean to Richmond with our 3 later picks ?
Would be nice but thinking Taylor will be long gone if not 1st round the Hawks will be all over him

McDonald i would hope with but who knows which way the clubs go after pick 10

Just thinking potential trading partners because Taylor goes in the next few picks I would imagine. McDonald more chance to be around at pick 28.

Bulldogs/Freo /Brisbane would be the most likely imo

#28 + Tigers 2nd in 2022 for 1st pick 2nd round

Lions may be interested in our 2022 2nd rounder plus #26 for their 18 due to points for their Ashcroft kid next year

Doggies #23 ? not sure what we would need to give up for that and is it worth the 3 spot difference

Ward is safe. Sonsie I don’t think is a bust, at worst Dev Smith. Sinn is absolutely a bust chance, body and form.
Think you will find that with all the wingmen, no easy choices but there will be one gun emerge in all likelihood.

Thanks mate, I'm going to take a break for a few weeks now as its a bit like groundhog day for me at the moment. Same players, same discussions, same arguments! Not always productive.

I'll come back the week before the draft when I have more info and intel on what we're intending to do and the interest starts to really ramp up.
Good mate and don’t stay away!

Apparently we're still in the hunt for GWS' pick 2(4). The only way they'll trade it is if their target is Andrew or Gibcus and they're sure their man will still be available at their new pick. That hurdle isn't insignificant - Gold Coast at the next pick could be a suitor for either player.

But let's say GWS is open to dealing their pick. We have the most currency in this draft except for Freo but I don't see them trading both their top-10 picks. Hawthorn could outbid us with 5 and next year's first, but would they? Two top-5 picks for one?

Pick 7(9) and next year's first for pick 2(4) and hopefully GWS' 2022 second (might have to settle for third). Gets us Callaghan and say Sonsie at 17. Dream result. Then pick off a couple (Howes, MacDonald, Murley, Williams - or trade two of the 20s picks to say Brisbane for 18 and 41, and get Butler and Jones/Fejo) and maybe sell the last of our 20s picks to the highest bidder (Saints, Bummers, Blosers, Crows, Poort) for a 2022 second-rounder and maybe a third for our fourth if the bidding is fierce. That would give us three or four 2022 second-rounders, two of which we could trade to Brisbane for their first to give them more points for Ashcroft and get us back in the first round.

Winning.
Hawks would be only giving up next years 1st.
This year they move up from 5 to 2.
Similar to the Crows & us really.
I doubt the Hawks would give up a future 1st with Kp's galore next year which they need.
Crows on the other hand. They may do it.
