Replace Taylor with Bazzo or Williams and I'd be ok with that.

The list is missing Butler and Judson Clarke who are both in that range also.

I reckon it will be more like this:
#21 - Freo - Matthew Johnson
#22 - Norf - Sam Butler
#23 - Hawks - Tyler Sonsie
#24 - Geelong - Josh Goater
#25 - Geelong - Toby Conway
#26 - Saints - Mitch Owens
#27 - GWS - Josh Fahey
#28 - Hawks - Blake Howes
#29 - Carlton - Connor Macdonald
#30 - Richmond - Arlo Draper
#31 - Richmond - Judson Clarke
#32 - Richmond - Rhett Bazzo
Bazzo is an interesting one. Would he be on our list considering we just got Gibcus?

Definitely. Would free up Gibcus to play forward if he shows ability there. Remember Gibcus was Vic Country's first choice CHF until he had to play on Darcy. He also played a few games at CHF for Nth Ballarat.

Similarly Bazzo played CHF for Swans Colts and only went to defense for the championship games. Considering we lost Chol, CCJ and Riewoldt is in his last year we need another tall.

I would be gutted to watch my 2 preferred mids to be running around for the Bummers and Carlscum. Really want MacDonald. Wondering if we try and trade for their pick, or potentially even the Hawks 2nd (I also reckon they will take Sonsie with their 1st). They'd probably still get Howes at their pick as I don't think Carlton will take him so would get a free pick. Really think MacDonald is perfect for us.

I'd do 30 (as above assuming bids) and our 2nd next year for 28 and the Hawks 3rd next year. They may see that as a 10 or so upgrade and be happy with that.
I really think Carlton go for a Defender like Bazzo or Dean as they have loaded up on mids and have players like
Dow , Stocker , Kemp , Carrol and a few more trying to break into their midfield and Cerra Hewett Martin Walsh Cripps Kennedy etc occupying the midfield.

Jones retiring & Marchbank injury prone . Ruck & Defence is their needs

The other one that could easily slide into those picks is Bazzo. Where does he go? Might Geelong or the hawks go with him. Bazzo and DGB could be their defence sorted for 10 years.

Yeah I could see them opting for Bazzo too. Would be stoked to get MacDonald.

Think they might be thinking mid then maybe Dean with their 2nd, but they could also swing the other way and go tall (Bazzo) and then maybe someone like Soligo with their 2nd.

What I was inferring is that if Johnson and Sonsie are the best mids left (for example) maybe our club think the tier behind them will close the gap or that the gap itself is insignificant enough to take a non-mid with pick 18.

Wasn't inferring they were replacing Cotchin and Martin is a once in a generation type player. No one can replace him.

I should've started my post with "Agreed, also--"

The quoted poster desired a midfielder capable of de-creaming our midfield, but the 4th or 5th best midfielder in a covid draft is unlikely to be the booster shot we'll eventually need.

I've seen a few people say "we need a midfielder", but I think what they really mean is "we need a future superstar to fill the upcoming Trent/Dusty void" and that wasn't an option at our pick.

Since none of the similarly-ranked mids available will solve the supposed creaming problem, we solved the defence problem instead. And like you said, we'll still get a similar mid tomorrow night.

It's just a variant of the original midfielder we could've got.

He might be more deadly than the original if we're lucky.

Taken from BF but I don’t mind the look of it

#21 - Freo - Matthew Johnson
#22 - Norf - Jesse Motlop
#23 - Hawks - Tyler Sonsie
#24 - Geelong - Mitch Knevitt
#25 - Geelong - Toby Conway
#26 - Saints - Mitch Owens
#27 - GWS - Josh Fahey
#28 - Hawks - Blake Howes
#29 - Carlton - Connor Macdonald
#30 - Richmond - Arlo Draper
#31 - Richmond - Josh Goater
#32 - Richmond - Zac Taylor
If it plays out that way to pick 29, then I can't imagine that we pick Draper Goster and Taylor.
Its too neat. For sure we pick Soligo, Banks and Tyreece Leiu. We are not going to follow the script!

We had three or four wildcard picks in the top 20.

Trying to figure out the next ten is like herding Cats.
Given they're not shortening quarters, just wait a little while. Those Cats will be easy pickings soon.
They'll fade like they always do.

Speaking of mids, go hard for Tom Green in 2023. The more Toms the better. From what I saw of the draft, Darcy Wilmot short odds to be first draftee to be punched at a falafel stand in 2022. :)

Reckon it's 100/1 you get all those next players right (even if not in order) before our picks Spooker.

We've seen tonight how wild every clubs rankings are. That is sure to continue tomorrow.

Bet at least two who you think will be gawnnn will still be on the board at our first pick.

And then our rankings will likely pass over at least one of them anyway.
Yeah of course. I'm just guessing.

All this talk that Brown might play midfield. So why not draft a midfielder?
Can't see it for mine. Will play hbf.
An important role but deflated we didn't pick The Sonz

Carlton said to be keen.

He's as tall as Dermott Brereton.

Matt Clarke's balls are on the line with this draft.

Seven live picks before our three. Let's hope someone grabs Knevitt.

21 Freo. They will be fielding a stack of offers but someone would have to pay up bigtime for them to not take Johnson surely.
22 Norf. They'll also get plenty of offers but having already upgraded to 32 and 37 they'll probably be able to get Motlop with one of those if they're keen. So they get a bonus player here. Butler or Howes is my tip.
23. Hawks. Sonsie. Lock it in.
24. Scats. *Please take Knevitt.* Reckon it's whichever one of Butler or Howes is available.
25. Scats. *Please take Knevitt.* Goater or Bazzo. Goater.
26. Hawf. Draper or Bazzo. Draper.
27. Carlton. MacDonald.
28, 29, 30. Richmond. Murley, Taylor, Clarke, Jones, Fejo, Bazzo, WIlliams, Soligo, Hough left to choose from. *Please don't take Knevitt.*
We could get Taylor Soligo and Hough
And be really disappointing
