Should follow the off season dietary program of Mr Burnside. Dropped 1.5kg by adopting the KFC potato mash and gravy only diet. No original recipe pieces, no burgers, no nuggets or fries. Just potato and gravy. Looks a million bucks.

Just looking at KFC makes by veins and arteries shrivel

I really don’t disagree with that at all.
I was just saying some individuals need a little more I guess you would say work with keeping them in line.
Syd came from a long way back behind his peers, which is why he wasn’t selected in the draft to begin with. And I firmly believe if we didn’t take him when we did and another club did he’d already be out of the AFL system.

My point really is if he’s still improving every pre season, I think he’s worth keeping.

As I said, I’m still not convinced he is will make it, and maybe he’s to worried about his social media to put in the extra yard to get as fit as he could be, but he’s improving every year.

He’s only 21 years old, I know I look back at myself as 21 year old now and am disgusted at the decisions I made and the person I was and I’m only 30 now.

Yes he does have a lot of growing up to do, but I don’t think it’s as bad as some are making it out to be.

The problem i have with your opinion of what has happened and what may still happen is that Stack now has a long enough history going all the way back to junior footy where he had the exact same issues , Then you must also now take into consideration the 4th season of afl in 2022. He really has not learnt alot in the last 5-6 years

Difference in comparing ourself's to elite athlete's in professional environments is that they are being trained and educated to the degree which we have never seen and combined with that they are getting 100's thousands of dollars to be there and play
so they know the risk. We didnt have that at stake and thats why they Have to be more than what we were at 21

What are we - End of November.

Wayyyy to early to be putting a line through through such a talent.

Let's judge in March/April .....or maybe even September!!!....When getting to the football first actually matters!!

So give him preferential treatment over all the other boys because he cant be stuffed training and keeping himself in good physical shape like the other 43 players on the list ? Why

He is not Cotchin,Dusty,Jack, Rance or even Baker - Why should he be pampered and looked after, Which other players will require the same treatment with this type of example being set

He played 7 games in 2021 after losing 2 months in jail
He was released on Jan 9 2021 and arrived back in March 26 but in no shape to play

Sometimes you might just need to accept AFL level professionalism is not for everybody and just accept it for what it is ,

Richmonds season ended 21st August and the players returned last week thats 3 months off, Who gets 3 months off work these days ? Is it asking too much just to keep a reasonable level of fitness to resume preseason training whilst getting paid $120k a year for 9 months work ?
Preferential treatment or being smart with the way you manage your assets?
If managing him in a certain way guarantees him playing high level football on a consistent basis then why not.

In S&C they refer to it a Minimum Effective Dose, the minimum amount of work you can do that will generate a physiological response. IMO that is what they likely doing with Sydney. No point flogging him to death if it becomes counterproductive

When the whips are cracking, Stacky will be best 22.
Some people on here will look very foolish.

Again you fail to see what the debate is about !!

Nobody has said Stack is not a good enough player , But a very lazy player that wont conform to team rules during his time away from the club

1 more off season like the last 4 and i doubt he gets a contract. Needs to grow up

I definitely understand the debate.
Some are arguing that he won’t train hard enough and is wasting everyone’s time.
I’m arguing that regardless, he’ll be best 22.
Not sure why anyone is concerned about pre season form. Come round 1 he’ll displace many players who present better during the first week of preseason.
He’s not a bad egg. He’s a terrific footballer who has an average endurance base.

so if Ben Miller goes to bed at 20.00 every night, and eats brown rice for dinner, and does extra pilates and tells everyone he loves them and is authentic as buggery,

and Dylan Grimes sneaks half a bottle of pinot on Friday nights and hits a highland cow with an electric prod,

Miller plays CHB and Grimes goes sub?

Yeah, no one doubts his talent. It's just disappointing he's not in shape after his experience of the last few seasons. He's got a few months to get right before the season starts so hope he does, would love to see him fit and in the side come Round 1

Grimes is in the team because he's done all the right things as well as having the talent to play the game.

Remember back to his hamstring issues early days, less professional and strong-willed players would have walked away.

Do you really think Burge would be giving him a rocket in the paper if Stack has followed the individual program given to him at the end of last season?

Reread what burge said.... he said he has work to do and still learning the caper.... hardly a rocket and likely a snippet of a larger conversation... Us supporters especially at this time of year love content and I think this has been overblown.

Sorry ToO dont know how to double quote but this is taken from one of his posts early November...

Gale admits a soft spot for the recently recontracted Stack, whose last four games were excellent in a seven-game season ruined by a stint in a Perth jail over a Covid breach.

“I am proud of him. Not quite this time last year but close to it, he was in prison. So he’s fought his way back. He can play. He can really play. I reckon he’s only scratched the surface. His potential is very high. He is a good man, Sydney. He has had a bit of bad luck in his life but we love him and have great belief in him.”

RFC have on multiple occasions over a long period now been able to manage different players with different circumstances, and do it well. If it doesn’t work out for Syd then that’s a shame but to doubt we are not being tough enough or giving preferenti treatment I would disagree, i think we (RFC) understand far better than us how to get the best out of different personalities and situations.

Again reread what burge said then understand it was in a larger conversation, hardly a rocket IMO.

if you spend half a century studying only really 3 things; racehorses, footballers, and the female form,

you come to realise 2 things;

1. the female form has nothing to do with racehorses and footballers, and

2. racehorses and footballers perform in a very similar fashion. some get fit and find form quickly; some dont. some are consistent; some are mercurial. some are predictable; some aren't. some are lucky; some aren't. some are fast; some are slow.

having written No.2,

I think No.1 needs some work.

more study required I suppose?

I would think Stacks career is only limited by his mental health. Stack is exploring his life and that is a good thing. A mentally healthy Stack is much more important than a physically healthy Stack. Maturity comes with age. I still think he delivers, while he is at the club he has hope of being a highly productive Citizen.

Much rather talk KFC then Sydney, feel the kid is on a hiding to nothing with some . 2 things I know as fact ,Syd is in the best physical shape he has been in at the start of any preseason as in body fat etc , 2 he’s nowhere near fit enough as in running out a game of AFL football atm , and probably should have had a few more Ks in the legs , no excuse there , however there’s 4 months until rd 1 . Syd has made changes in his life to be an AFL footballer , FFS give him until the season starts at least.

I’ll just add I don’t believe there has been a kid in the AFL to come under so much criticism and dirt digging into his personal life , especially by his own

Much rather talk KFC then Sydney,

If im on the road, I occasionally (twice a year) grab a couple of sliders with pepper mayo.

kind of a miniature fried chicken kebab.

But I generally steer clear, because I'd prefer not to have my heart injectors reconditioned.
