Training For Redemption in 2022

This Brown talk has me fascinated. He could easily start on a wing and have an impact.

Maybe he goes to the back flank and Short goes to the wing. Cant have enough quality users.
Think Caesar has reported he’s very light.
Might need a year of development in the twos before we see him competing against the bigger, hardened bodies.
Encouraging signs but let’s wait until he plays one game before we start worrying about who he replaces.

I were at training today, (about 140 minute session), pretty hot just standing there watching :) ,

Best news by a mile was Soldo participating in an hour of training with the main group, kicking, marking & change of direction he then did another hour of work away from the main group.
Lambo also joined the main group for an hour then breaking away to do his own thing.
Shai, blitzing, tore the guernsey of Broady's back as Broad tried to evade him.
Brown & Gibcus: The only 2 draftees to train with main group and did so for the entire session, again Brown looking very accomplished, except for being a bit light you would be hard pressed to pick him as a draftee he is so seamless in the drills. Gibcus moves really well but does look a bit like the boy he is amongst men, (big Christmas dinner in order for his training regime).
They both got found out in one on one wrestling drills when they were matched up against two beasts in KMac & Balta respectively :) .

Parker: Continues pre-season dominance.

Tarrant : Love, love DTLD but watching training we definitely have his position coverd.

Prestia : Always wary of saying he is doing well as every pre-season I say this he inevitably suffers a setback.

Full Rehab: Graham, Dusty, Sonz, Banks, (Sonz doing the least, can't see him doing drills till new year?, but progressing his running very slowly)

Not there: JR8, Judson Clarke & Will Martyn

Endurance Work : At the end of the long session Syd, RCD, Balta, Shai, Marlion given extra work, (not sure if Marlion was there just to encourage and assist Syd as he kept dropping back to support him and they had a nice hug at the end).
Balta really trying to play catch-up he had a massive 165 minute session and stayed out 15 minutes longer than anyone else continuing on his running. (A power athlete that has always struggled a bit with endurance work on track).

What I want before Christmas : Is a Scratch Match but not sure I am going to get it.

PS : Riewoldt confirmed as training in Tassie and will join group after Christmas.

Cheers mate, as always much appreciated.

My take aways and questions...

Jack wont be captain and doesnt want it, full credit to him to do the bike raising funds, different fitness totallly from bike to running/training, as long as he plays most of season expext his best post Bye

Teague; Is there much forward coaching, Is he in their ears? Is training at that stage yet?

Kids etc.. Mate, love your reports and youve been doing it for years, is their similiar level of development as with Fly/Leppa?

Full Rehab; apart fromy Dusty any idea what the other lads are recovering from?

Agree on Tarrent, he can play.... Love Dave but a fit and 85-90% Tarrent is very good..

Love big Ivy coming along, Balta getting fit, Syd also...

Exciting times, hopefully they get away as a group....

Have a substancial bet we make 8 next year, If/When we do lookout..

Teague is giving plenty of voice and there are forward entry drills each session that look slightly different to last year but there has been no full scale match sim where numbers are even to test and watch in practice.

Look I love Fly & Leppa but they have gone a year now and been replaced, only time will tell how fast and good the talent is developed. Leppa & Fly not there last year and we drop away but our injuries horrendous. A good run with injuries and a similar poor result you might be able to read something into it and if the Pies finish higher than the Tige's.

Sam Banks : recovering from broken wrist close to resuming baring complications,
Sonsie : some sort of leg or foot injury considering his lack of running.
Dow : doing everything now bar contact I think maybe because of some off-season shoulder surgery? or the need to strengthen it?
Graham : Has been running but yet to get with main group, (Back related)
Will Martyn : Unfortunately Will is pretty crook with Glandular Fever and is back in Queensland recovering, (a pretty severe setback for him you would think as it can really knock you around and he really needed everything to go right to give him his best shot).

You always hear from sports people who’ve had GF and how they say it really knocks them around and how even when they’re over it and playing again how the after effects affected their performance.

This summer there are three players of interest to me,

Stack- hasn't missed a session, the rig looks in as good nick as it has been and he is getting miles in the legs. That's enough. Stay the course.
RCD- Ceaser salad's updates have me very bullish on the lad. Had an underrated year. Huge chance to breakout and be that mid we so dearly need.
Brown- When people say the kid looks a footballer and has class, I pay attention.

Agree on all three, especially RCD. Breakout is the word. I'll add a 4th in Hugo.

Really unlucky for Will. Already in the departure lounge for the next cull so it'll be really tough for him to survive into 2023 now.

Ceaser, is there normally training on Thursday morning? Might have to do my annual drop in.

Hi @TigerFlag2017 everything being equal training should start at 9:45am on Thursday. I do plan to get there but will be late as I have a 9:30am Covid Booster booked with CoHealth in Collingwood. So maybe closer to 10:30 for me which is no drama as they start with a 25 minute warm up before they properly get into things.

I can’t believe you booked your booster jab at a time that clashes with training? So at best we can expect an incomplete report?
Just joking of course Caesar, hope it all goes really well mate. You have your priorities well sorted.

It is a brutal business, and you could be right

But Will won our VFL B&F at 20, which is not insignificant runs on the board. We simply cant judge him on his senior games to date IMO.

get well soon son.
