Worked with them in the Defence Force Navy. One of the most respected Warrant Officers was Indigenous from a community about 250 mils from Alice Springs. Post Navy worked with another. Two houses down across the road Indigenous family who were there forty odd years ago when I moved in. Still there.
Cant argue with that, perhaps instead of having a representative voice to parliament, we could have you?

Tigaman is trolling.
Trolling LOL. Some one stated I had no recognition of our Indigenous Australians. Within a 1k radius of where I live five Aboriginal Flag flies high each day. Bungaree Primary School, Rockingham Senior High School, Rockingham City Council Offices , Rockingham Police Station, Rockingham Court House. Even read the Kalgoorlie Miner this morning . Page Three good article. Man avoids prison time due to him already punished by Tribal Law. Tribal Law OMG !!. He assaulted a female who after coming out of hospital she took to him with a crowbar. Google it. Now if the Yes gets up & they have a Voice in Wonderland it aint going change the every day life of our Indigenous brothers & sister one iota. Just a talk fest for the Intellects who are that far up em selves they do not know the way out.

You still have listed all the extra financial benefits an Indigenous person gets?

1. I love rockingham
2. Theres a time And place for crowbar justice
3. The voice wasnt born from intellectuals, it was born from The Uluru Statement from the heart, which would have included indigenous intellectuals but also stockmen, artists, footy players, professionals, students, community leaders, and people from Rockingham. The collaboration and consultation process was quite exhaustive and incredibly inclusive.

Do yourself a favour and read The Uluru Statement from the Heart

The argument that it wont change anything really needs to have a credible alternative attached to it, to be listenable.

I would vote no,l think the Voice is another token gesture.
ACTION is needed not more talk ,children are getting sexually abused ,domestic violence is at a level that most of us couldn't comprehend ,and most definitely we wouldn't except .
It's time for a Government to come in with a Iron fist ,and stop all these band aid solutions ,this has been going on for decades ,it's time to make the laws of the land for everyone .

Dear Brodders Only need one & here it is.. Now if you attend a Doctors Surgery for the first time or are being admitted to a hospital for a Medical procedure you have to fill out their required personal details or Hospital Admission form . First question Are you of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island descent ?. Yes or No. I tick No so I have to pay . Now If I ticked Yes do you think I would have to pay. Just remembered another one TransPerth . A few weeks ago my Seniors Travel Card spat the dummy so had to go into Perth to update. Had to fill out a Form. First question ARE YOU OF ABORIGINAL OR TORRES ISLAND STRAIT DESCENT. YES OR NO ? It appears to me you do not understand why they ask here there & everywhere ARE YOU OF ABORIGINAL OR TORRES TRAIT ISLAND DESCENT.

What action exactly?

The point is that, yes, we do need action on a lot of issues which impact Indigenous Australians. For the last couple of hundred years who has decided what actions are taken?

Sure as hell hasn't been the Indigenous Australians deciding on what actions are taken.

With white fellas making all the decisions we haven't exactly solved the problems have we?

The Voice gives Indigenous Australians some power, admittedly not much, to direct actions, to set the agenda on Indigenous Affairs.

FFS what you suggest is that we treat Indigenous Australians more harshly than anyone else. Have you ever been drunk, would you like the cops bashing your door down when you are drunk? I'm sure Indigenous Australians would welcome the laws of the land applying the same way for everyone, it would certainly help their situation.

Hows is my previous comment suggesting we treat indigenous Australians harshly .they are doing it to themselves.
Children are getting abused ,women are getting bashed ,stabbed ,raped, and l read somewhere the other day a husband tried to decapitate his wife, this sort of thing is happening daily.

As you put it,white fellas haven't solved the problem, and that's because Governments tip toe around the problems .
It's time to do thing's that may be unpopular to some ,a lot of these community camps should be closed ,they aren't fit for animals let alone humans .
Abused Children should never be allowed back into any camp community that has a record of children getting abused(which is happening) .

I could go on and on ,and some of these issues are not just happening in NT or WA ,they are happening in every state in Australia, although to a lesser degree in some states.

Really? This happens daily? I'm surprised there is no woke Minister for Decapitated Women in our woke Government.

Actions, that's a good idea. Real actions, with real results!

Maybe we could start by consulting Aboriginal people about laws that affect them. Of course, you couldn't just willy-nilly ask anyone, that'd be a mess. Something more like a consultative panel of leaders, that the parliament can talk with to better understand the issues and shape policy. That sounds like a great idea, why don't they do that.

So what your saying is we should consult them about laws ,if we start changing laws for indigenous people, you are creating an even bigger divide than what already exists ..
You can talk until the cows come home, but that's not stopping children and women getting abused,it's time to close a lot of these government funded community camps ,and moving people into more populated area's that have decent education, medical facilities and a chance of a better future.

Not all these camps are Government funded ,some are self sustained ,be it through mining ,and agriculture etc.

Some here may find the following interesting reading and watching..Sorry could not provide the click on link.

If one Googles WWW.parliament.nsw.gov.au>inquiries hopefully the title Overcoming Indigenous disadvantage in NSW. dated July 2008.
it is a document that is 344 pages long but is an interesting read.
Follow this up with the 2012 4 Corners report about Toomelah,an aboriginal mission in NSW.
And finally a 2012 follow up on the 7.30 report with Leigh Sayles.

Oh and those with more competence with computers by all means provide the click on links

Both sides of the argument should look at this.Very important IMO

Maybe have a read of this. Though odds on you'll come back and say "that's what they want you to think, it's really because they get everything for free".
Maybe should ask " Were you a Member of Australian Defence Force . Yes/No " Did you serve in a Overseas Conflict Yes/No. Did you Suffer Trauma from those Conflicts. Yes/No.
