Here are the selections from John Ralph for discussion.

RICHMOND

FB:
R. Tarrant, N. Balta, N. Broad

HB: N. Vlastuin, D. Grimes, D. Rioli

C: J. Short, T. Taranto, K. McIntosh

HF: S. Bolton, J. Riewoldt, M. Rioli

F: D. Martin, T. Lynch, N. Cumberland

Foll: T. Nankervis, D. Prestia, J. Hopper

I/C: L. Baker, B. Miller, M. Pickett, T. Cotchin

Sub: T. Sonsie

Notable absentees: J. Gibcus, J. Ross, J. Graham, H. Ralphsmith, J. Clark, I. Soldo

Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper come into the side as round 1 locks and immediately supply the kind of selection pressure that will require Trent Cotchin to maintain the faith and Tyler Sonsie to continue his development.

Josh Gibcus’ early-season absence with hamstring issues will ease the squeeze for spots across the tall defensive posts, while Jason Castagna will miss round 1 but Judson Clarke, Noah Cumberland and Maurice Rioli will push for the last small forward spots.

Meanwhile Ivan Soldo has had a strong pre-season but finished the season behind Toby Nankervis and Ben Miller so that battle will play out in the next month.

-Jon Ralph

Sonsie looks doubtful through injury.

Tarrant will probably play round I. Hope he does well but with his drop off in pace I can’t see him lasting very long.

Gibcus or Young look the most likely replacements.

Have yo had the stopwatch out on Tarrant over the summer?
We all get it, you dont want him to play, but at the end of 2022 he was well and truely in our best team, so until there is evidence that is no longer the case, or at the very least a younger player can get close to his quality, he wont be dropped.

I wouldnt guarantee him more than 12 months- i would expect he would need to show a level of development this year to stay on in 2024- not necessarily playing AFL, or even dominating the VFL, just a level of football and physical improvement now he is in the best possible developmental environment.
He is coming from a long long way back and not in a elite pathway , If we have seen signs then need to give him the required time to develop into what we expect and thats taking more than 12 months

Interestingly Melbourne have signed Kye Turner as their SSP. Turners situation similar to Bradkte, 193 KPP, played AA few levels lower at VAFA B grade with 2 VFL games for Frankston (Bradkte played a few levels lower mostly with Corowa and 2 VFL games with Sydney)

I was referring to the drop off since he was capable of playing the game at the top level.
To be perfectly clear a lack of speed to the ball has been a problem since he arrived, which is not unusual in a player of his age.

So with KB snatching the last safe list spot, the RFC has seemingly offered Narkle a spoot with the VFL side for 2023 no doubt in a bid to prove himself and then be drafted as a rookie Mid Season selection or at years end.

AND GUESS WHO THE OTHER SUITOR IS in Victoria?

YOU GUESSED IT, ESSINGTON are also trying to nab Quentin now ..................ya cant make this shitt up.

That would be odd as they've already got Tom Phillips (ex Collingwood and Hawthorn) on their VFL list with an eye to get him in the MSD. Can't have too many options I guess.

If you are counting him then Sam Durham would be counted as well.
Both ex Richmond vfl
True good points Sinful.

Theyll probably take George in mid season now:LOL:, or Wannaberichmondwood will take him in the rookie draft if he decides to go again.

All things Richmond they just cant help themselves.

I reckon it gives us a good look at whoever is playing well in the Reserves comp, the WAFL and SANFL. Kid might have improved dramatically since the draft or an older player and we'd be able to get someone maybe like a Pickett type player to come in and rev up our second half of the season (Stack) :censored:

Hope they’re keeping a keen eye on Archie May from our VFL team.
The kid has something. Attitude and a great boot for a start
