Game Day - Tigers V Blues

OMG. The broken tackles as well. Unreal.

Kicking
Speed
Tackling

So obvious. At least we won the stoppages and clearances. And contested possessions.
Our tackling is pissweak. Absolutely pathetic. Carlton players just walked through us all night or stood up and dished off. We never seem to have anyone that can tackle Cripps properly.

Balta played forward, back and ruck, sometimes all at the same time. He is the Scomo of Richmond! (Wish there was someone more inspiring to make that joke about.)

Yep. And yet they stuck almost every tackle and pretty much got rewarded for it. Same old.

6 to 4 Blues way
Even when they paid them for us they screwed us over. The HTB just outside 50, it was the other end of the ground from me, but looked like as the ump signalled the HTB we kicked inside 50 to no advantage, didn't pull it back, then Lynch gets held, free kick, we play on to advantage, but they then pull it back which allows Carlton to flood back leaving us with no talls forward of the ball so they intercept mark again. Frustrating.

I thought it was an improvement tonight. Has been poor, and were some poor ones for sure, but there were also some good'ns.

Just got in from the G. Glad we were able t fight it out and prob should have taken the points. The injuries might become a blessing in disguise because over the coming weeks we will see who can cut it at the level, who WANTS to cut it, and who simply can't.

Its Rd 2.....if I see players been turned over, not gifted games, are putting in 100% effort every week, at this stage of proceedings I'll take that.

Observations :

i. The Tankers are *smile*, could'nt bury an injury riddled team short on experience, that have'nt gelled yet, under a new game plan
and have a new coach. Last year flattered them imho. Even the Carlscum supporters around me thought they should have been
beaten.
ii. The Dumpires still a farce, both ways....ie: 75 mtr 50 mtr penalties, holding the pall, push in the back (WTF?)
iii. Ouzo is match day coach...that's 2 weeks in a row he's had to make moves and but for a few brain fades we could be 2-0.
iv. Tissue Man Prestia should have gone last year, his body isnt up to the rigours any more and we play a man down when hes on
the park, does'nt chase, tackle, pressure etc. He's conscious of the fact that the hammys/body is cooked so does'nt load up.
v. Poor discipline still costing us games, needs to be eliminated by Ouzo. Right NOW. The oppo knows this and its always the
same offenders, Pickett, Nank, Bakes, Balta, Bolton.....
vi. Bolton has the ability to do anything, his mindset / attitude is costing HIM potential greatness, and costing the team more.
vii. The magnets will swing around again now and whilst not allowing stability in the side, we WILL see who can stand up and
wants it.
viii. Shattered for Gibbo.

FWIW - I don't see either side playing finals this year. We'll see.

Reckon the Tankers are overrated and could'nt dominate a team even without a young, inexperienced back line despite having two power forwards. Finished with two fit players on the bench, while Lynch, MArtin and Nank were coming off injuries and playing their first games for the year. I think just quietly they'd be thinking they were lucky to get the points tonite.

From our point of view, whilst we get raped by the dumpires every week....its the BRAIN FADES that have cost us games in the last few seasons and it needs to be dealt with.

PRONTO.

Pleased with the endeavour, we were dealt a tough hand tonight. Prestia, Gibcus and Young all out in the 1st half. Prestia was obvious, when we fans can call that its a massive risk asking him to play on a 5 day break, surely the match committee should know that too, possibly was the reason we lost the game.

I thought our clearance work was top class particularly in the 1st half, Nank makes such a difference, he was outstanding but tired expectedly as the game went on, as did Dusty and Lynch.

Umpires were chronically inconsistent as always.

Defensively as a group I thought we were good, Grimes hit back well, as did Broad and Vlastuin has started the season so well.

I watched MRJ tonight, he has no idea where to run, constantly in the wrong spot both defensively and offensively. I'm not sure how he can keep his spot for next week. We've seen with players like Campbell what they can do when they come in, skillful, energetic and still does the defensive / team stuff.

I left the ground feeling content that the Blues won't be winning a flag this year, they just play exactly the same every time, I'd love to know the stats, but I'd hazard a guess that their target within F50 was probably McKay or Curnow 95%+ of the time, makes them relatively easy to defend, and when they have that overrated dud at half back that they love the old WOOF at, I reckon he gave the ball straight back to us more than he kept it tonight. I've never been to the ground and seen Saad and ever thought, wow that guys good, just BOG average IMO.

All I will say is that if some says that umpires don’t influence games I will spew up.

That 50m penalty to De Koning was right on our 50m mark. The umpire took the man on the mark inside Carlton’s forward 50. WTF!

Absolutely filthy how such decisions costs teams games of football.

I wouldn't call it frustrating ... downright cheating to deny RFC a win again.

But this is strange. Checked the stats on my phone at the game's end. It showed, and is still showing the *smile* count to be 23C/13R. But a bit later, went on my laptop. Checked on AFL game stats again - then says 24/17.

Really odd.

This kid will be a serious player for us.

Agree.....he's shown more in his 2 Snr games than MRJ has in his Snr appearances.

I like the kid but I dont think he has the footy brain/instinct that real footballers have.

Something that's very hard to teach anyone if they don't have it.

Today was also a reminder of the umpires oath, though shalt not pay a free against Patrick Cripps
