The Cheezels has great skill. Balance. Vision. But he’s a mid size forward- very difficult spot/role on the ground to play at AFL level. You’re on a hiding week to week there. One moment you’re good…next you’re in the magoos. Just ask Ben Lennon and a host of other high end drafted mid size forwards. For that reason I’m not using a top 5 pick on him. Too risky. Yeah he could be a Luke Breust but it’s just such a tough role. 6-12 for me.

Note: Wayne Cripps refers to Cheezels as a forward too, not a mid.
Yeah that’s totally fair. I’ve got my blinders on, I didn’t think DeGoey or Archie Perkins would be good. I might be overcompensating with Cheezels. He reminds me of Connor Rozee. I want a quality 15 -20 touches. Want to see his athletic testing results but I’m as high on Cheezels as anyone after the first two.

I'm with Scoop, don't think any of the top mids are lace-out specialists. Wardlaw's looks ok to me, what's your beef?

One who might slip to a pick in our range is Paul Pascu. Played HBF in the Champs but started the year well playing inside mid as Cannons skipper. Strong, quick, and a piercing left foot.
I mentioned his kicking a week and a bit ago. If you want a reference for it, watch the Cwood game.

He’s a solid boy Pascu. I was a bit disappointed with his game against VC. Third rounder.

Is he a key position player prospect?
At that height he could have a number of different applications, acceleration can also be put to good use on the lead, just what you need for that special sauce midfielder.

His form last year was impressive, he kicks through the ball & can roost it a long way. There were a few times where he had to take the knocks, I don't think he's timid, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt given Darling & Frankin also had poor second years.
Whats his speed , agility and leap like ? Does he have a tank ?

Certainly enough speed to get separation, his leading patterns are pretty good, he's not a spin on a dime type forward, but I would consider him to be physically strong enough to be a power forward. The tank I'm not sure about, hopefully get some word on that soon.

If all 3 available Lemmy , Scully , George
would you take george ahead of Lemmy even with the knee and lemmy being more of a need

Would knee surgery blunt a few weapons with a high leaping & high impact forward? That would be my first question & is there enough gut running potential to make it as a full time mid. If George is stationed in the forward line does he then become a Membrey type 3rd tall? Quite a few unknowns there & I think the rewards will be greater if you win with the power forward, if there's a player in the draft who could feasibly replace Lynch I think it's Lemmey.

Heard Shifter Sheahan on the radio this morning. He said after the first round it becomes fairly speculative on the players available. This is because of the Covid lockdowns and the very little junior footy these kids have played.

There could be some kids missed out on being drafted that emerge as very good mature age pick ups.

Shifter loves every player. Every player could be a star. It’s his job.

This is so true.

But this is also true. The lack of footy will have impacted some kids. There will be some bolters from the back of the draft.

There is a clear top 7 and then after that it’s anyones guess. Good year to be sitting a draft out.
