Changes vs Swans

With everything that’s happened, changes for me are:
Out: Lynch, Graham & Nankervis (injured).
In: Riewoldt, Cotchin & Miller. Ross to be sub.

I’m tempted to replace Mansell with Bauer. Would be useful second key forward with Jack, plus allows better flexibility with Ryan/Miller. Ryan won’t be fit enough to do more than 50% ruck time.

Long term is pretty much season isnt it?

I think they work off 4 week spells. So short term is less than 4. Medium is 4-8 and Long is 8+. Just a guess but thats my thinking.

With Tarrants hip. If it doesn't get any better, there might be a chance of a mid season (ie. before the draft) retirement.

Miller will be primary ruck so won't need Ryan to take more than 50% of the ruck anyway.

Ins: Cotchin or Ross, Riewoldt, Miller
Outs: Lynch (inj), Nank (inj), Graham (inj)

Sub: Ross or Cotchin

I'm really wanting Bauer to get a game, but can't see it happening with Nank and Soldo injured.
Miller to come in, I don't like him as a forward though, so he plays down back, and Young goes forward and give Samson a chop out in the ruck.
If Young was to play as a forward, I'm confident that he would hit the back hard like Tom, and who knows, desperation is the mother of invention, he might go alright. Can always swap him and Miller around during the game.

Balta is option as a forward, but we've seen that, so he stays down back.

Another option is, we go small like we did in 2017?

In Cotchin, Riewoldt, Miller
Out Lynch, Nank, Graham

Samson and Miller as our rucks. At least we’ll know if they’ll be part of the puzzle going forward I suppose.

Lynch 'Long term'. Surgery says to me it's not minor.
Pins n plate on the broken bone to help support the healing. Lynchman's a 100 kegs n expected to do plenty of running n jumping etc. Reckon I'd be fairly surprised if he's back in anything less than 8 to 10 weeks

Last year was a missed opportunity at a flag.
We are seriously banged up.
Will only get worse when the wet weather slog sets in.
Backs to the wall.
Could be the making of the Cubs.

Our flag chances went with Dion's hammy in the elimination final. No way we were beating Melbourne, Geelong and Sydney without him.

Miller and Ryan are a fine ruck combo in the square. Run and jump time. Hitouts aplenty.

Around the ground they'll be pushed around by bargearses. Thank gawd we're not playing cats as hawkins would push out 5 goals.

In fact thinking about it swans is probs a great matchup. Ladhams is a ruck goon. Amartey a young flake. If we break even it would be alright.

Warner. His speed is always a problem. Cant think of a good solution.
Maybe its Pickett to nullify (some astute posters thought this up)
Or fight fire with Shai?

The different teams have different strategies.
Melbourne has a two-ruck strategy.
Collingwood has a zero, "non-entity", ruck.
I guess we have to do the latter, bring in a "negating" ruck and an extra mid.
Collingwood has an extra mid clearance player, in lieu of its ruck shortfall.
Cotchin must play prominently.
Maybe Junior Rioli as a sub to bring on extra forward pace towards the end.
Ryan plays well at AO, scored three goals.
Obviously JR returns.

can't go small against the swans, will need another tall option. Confident about Martin, Bolton and Cumberland...they are strong players for us and need to be accounted for. Jack and Ryan will play their part, having another tall will help against them. it's a fine balance, let's get this right, as we will need this combination for the next 10 wks
