General Trade Discussion 2022

Reckon Grundy is suffering from Maric issues. We killed Maric by playing the solo ruck for those years and his body just couldn't cope. Reckon Grundy is in the same boat. Was smashed week in week out as he was their best player and they relied on him heavily.

Jack Graham thread is down for some reason. Would much prefer Jack to Hopper. WTF is going on?

Can we get Hopper and Taranto and keep at least a 2022 1st rounder and our 2023 1st rounder?

Graham getting traded may assist.

Sellwood gone maybe another couple of Catters retiring so would this bring the Cats with plenty of space & cash into this Trade period . Maybe targeting Taranto ,De Goey ,Hooper, Lobb is possible.

They only pay them peanuts at geelong. Players only go there for the surf and country lifestyle, apparently

And the property deals whether these be whilst present or post footy career.

Let’s talk to this well heeled supporter who needs some pre sales on his next development project.

Interesting comment on the Real Footy podcast yesterday that Geelong pulled out of the Hopper negotiations because his asking price would make him the second-highest paid player at the Cats. Gelong were concerned with the effect on club culture where most players are paid under their market value. Jake Niall made the observation that the structuring of player payments is more important than draft picks.
Yet they’re considering taking Bowes at $850k a year for 2 years.
Regardless of the reasoning it’s gotta sting some of the playing group

It's more likely that they pulled out of the Hopper negotiations because Salty's brother Brad gave him and SHocking an early heads up on salary dumping, giving them the opportunity to get to front of the queue on Bowes.

So they can take this dud for $850,000 but not Hopper?
Strange cats down there.

Any chance Brad Scott has brought in the salary dump rule, and that it now benefits him as Essendon coach?

If you can think it, with regards to the AFL,

Its likely i reckon.

Even when its farcically corrupt and unbeleivably opaque,

You can take it on face value
