Jake Aarts

I actually prefer Aarts, much much harder than butts and haven’t seen any deer in headlight moments yet, that Butts used to do routinely. Time will tell though
And I think Butts salad days at St Kilda are just about already over.

Played pretty well. Will need to nail those set shots - don't remember him missing them in the VFL

He's the real deal. Gonna play many games for us

Hard at it, applies great pressure, clean hands, neat skills and good decision maker. Plays the Richmond way

Yep, I reckon he can become a great small forward.

I will add I think Butler will do well at StKilda, he is a quality player who was missing out at Richmond and is quite capable of being an effective long term small forward for StKilda.

DS

He isn't going anywhere soon.
He reminds me of Lambert in his first year and he is the everywhere man.
9 touches 5 scoring shots.
Did well

Shouldve got a 'in the back' free kick.
Im not sure if that rule still exists.
Arts needs to capitalise on every touch. He won't be a 15-20 touches a game player.
5 touches 3 tackles won't cut it long term

Good goal early, and a ripper takeaway from a stoppge, but not really involved.
A like him, he's a battler and brave, but there's a reason he's 25 and just on an AFL list.
He's short, not explosive, and doesn't find much of the pill.

I largely agree,

but that 1:2 win/spin on the wing was a helluva glimpse.

its not a huge embellishment to call that an oldnormal Rioli play

That's what i was referring too, but there's just not enought of it from him. Hard in these shitty short form games to build momentum.
He stays for now, because others aren't ready, and other incumbents are much worse.

I agree he appears to have more downside than upside atm.

but its game 3.

we felt the same about Kane Lambert

Yep, give the boy some time, everyone expects our 3,4,5,6,7 game players to be consistent superstars, ain’t gunna happen.

Went AWOL but has played 2 other pretty good games. The small forward possie is a tough one, sometimes you just don't get into the game.

Still like him. Has attributes that will translate into a good player for us. Hard at the contest, urgent and applies good pressure, clean hands in traffic. Very much Lambert like. Persist.
