Jake Aarts

I look at him as a poor mans Georgie , big big heart , just lacks a tad of class, again like Pickett I know the role he plays and the fact is they help,us be the best side in the comp, however I’d just like too see a couple of the young mids get some games in front of the likes

Reckon he was great last night. Gets into dangerous positions and knows where the goals are.

I can’t quite nail his role, terrible contested Mark, dubious speed and I’d say no better than 50/50 by foot. That said, he is in a fair few plays... so he’s trying to the right spots.... is it just he gets ambitions and abilities confused more often than not?‍♂️

Sometimes you go to VFL games and think 'This bloke is a class above.' Sometimes you think 'what a great VFL player'.

You can't fault Aarts on hutzpah. But to me, he is the latter.

Whole hearted but he is going to be in and out of the team I reckon.

Keeping the seat warm for junior :D

I like Aarts and I think he's a good kick, but I think he's too slow for that role, especially being as I think with the quicker ball movement, you need fast smalls.

He's a lot like Sam Lloyd for me. Likeable bloke, good kick, but just doesn't have the pace needed.

Remember he is young by AFL standards so is still feeling his way.
is an intelligent footballer who doesn’t look out of place as he gets into good positions to receive the ball.
He got caught twice trying to take Saad on and now he knows his limitations in th speed area he won’t push the envelope too far next time.
I am concerned with his pace for a bloke of his size .
He gives the team much more than Dan Rioli.

Lol at the haters. Reminds me alot of the Lambert haters early on. Even the Graham haters last year. Aarts is perfectly suited to our game style. He's tough, tackles hard, and knows how to scrap. This is why we got rid of Butler and why George hasn't been dropped in 4 years

It is worth noting that Saad ran down Bolton.

I'm a fan. Loved that he kicked our first of the season in the front of the biggest crowd he's ever played in front of.

I'm with you but, have to say, I think Sam had him both for kicking and marking, just. Similar average pace. I love his courage and endeavor - just lacks genuine speed.

Haters?

What a stupid term.

There have only been posts saying we couldn't ask more of him. Just seems limited in a way that may affect his future.

BTW he's already been dropped more than Lambo, so the coaches know his limitations too.

I guess they are all haters too.

Spot on. I’m no hater at all. I really like what he brings I’m just not sold he is the answer in that position Long term.

Watching the replay, he was better then I thought then watching the game live last night , possibly had my tomato juice spiked last night

Don't mind Aartsy Faartsy. Plays the game the way Dimma likes the boys to play.
Simply a better version of Stevie Morris, not the most talented bloke out there, but you'll never die wondering about his effort n commitment.
